We will find out more if there is no name suppression at 10.30 NZ times. Currently 9.17am

That is, IF that individual who made the comment is the killer. I did see however that he is not on her friends' list, which might be a red flag.

I woke up this morning thinking of poor Grace. I also had the horrible thought that this guy is another Brendt Christensen, and the apartment evidence showed that.
I agree that this guy presented himself as charming, personable and attractive.....but had a very dark side.

May I ask where you found the apartment evidence as I have missed that somewhere along the way?

Sadly i think you may be correct. Quite often when a suitcase is mentioned in a crime it usually means a body has been stuffed in there and quite often it has been dismembered. This is truly sickening and my heart goes out to Grace and all her family and friends.

Foxymona, we don't know what the apartment evidence was, but it seems likely there is some since this guy is charged with murder so quickly BEFORE her body and the car were located. Grace was never seen coming out on her own, the car was rented later to presumably transport her body, so it is speculation that Grace was killed in the apartment.

From Sky News - A court document seen by Sky News says the suspect in the murder of British backpacker Grace Millane is believed to have committed the crime between 1 and 2 December and the suspect's home address is listed as the hotel at which the 22-year-old was last seen alive

Until he has appeared in court his name cannot legally be published.


This is to allow for any applications for interim name suppression to be made and is standard when a person has not yet appeared before a judge.

But the Herald can reveal that the man is alleged to have murdered Grace between December 1 and 2.

The man is listed as living on Queen St - the same address as CityLife Hotel where Millane was last seen alive.

His occupation is not listed.

He will appear in courtroom two before Judge B Thomas.

Court staff confirmed that the timing of his appearance was dependent on "when he receives legal advice".

Judge Evangelos Thomas began the hearing by acknowledging the presence of Ms Millane's family in court.

I question why I want to know his name. I hope that knowing his name and learning more about his personal history will give clues as to why he did this.

What do we know about him without knowing his name? He was living in the hotel, he's 26 years old, there's no job associated with him.

Did he see Grace as a financial target?
