If a person is LE, medical or a mortician, they would handle the body respectfully. Rigor mortis can be broken with enough force. The body is after all only biological tissue, and the rigor mortis is in the muscles. A panicked killer would just break whatever to, as another poster stated, "cram" the body into a concealing container.

Yes, I also believe joints are vulnerable, no muscle holding them together.

Grace was nearly twice as tall as the size of that bag, would he really have been able to do that? Without getting too graphic if he had to go out and buy one that's not an easy job IMO

Sheila Mack's daughter put her mother into a suitcase, so it is possible. It might mean some broken bones because rigor mortis sets in between 2-6 hours after death and starts in the neck and jaw.

Does anyone know exactly whereabouts her body was found on Scenic Drive? It's a long road!

I grabbed this screen shot because I like the graphics style.

The dark history of New Zealand forest where murdered British backpacker Grace Millane was dumped | Daily Mail Online

[...]

The forest where a murdered British backpacker's corpse was found has a dark history.

The body of 22-year-old Grace Millane was found by police in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, south-west of Auckland, on Sunday afternoon.

Her body was found shrouded in bushes and shrubs about ten metres from the road.

But in an eerie coincidence, it's the same stretch of road where an unsolved murder took place more than 40 years ago.

Auckland teenager Tracey Ann Patient died in 1976.

Ms Patient, a 13-year-old at the time of her death, was found strangled with her own stockings.

She was last seen on the evening of January 29, when she said goodbye to her sister Debbie on her way to a friend's house.

She never made it.

This gives me the impression that he had pre-selected the location for the body.

How did he get back from Taupo to Auckland?
Taupo was where the car was located after it had been returned to the rental company and re-hired out to another person. It's not connected with the location of Grace's body.

Oh I see. I thought he had driven it to Taupo and abandoned it there. Thanks!

I hate saying this, but he could have dismembered her.

This could also explain why they knew so quickly that she had been murdered.

Dismemberment would result in lots of blood and he would also have had to use tools, which the police may have found.

The police stated earlier her body was "intact".

Update - Grace Millane investigation

Wednesday, 12 December 2018, 12:13 pm
Press Release: New Zealand Police

Statement to be attributed to Detective Inspector Scott Beard, Auckland City Police:

The body of Grace Millane has now been formally identified.

Grace has been returned to her family and they are in the process of organising to take her home, in the next few days.

Work continues to piece together exactly what happened to Grace, as we build a timeline of the circumstances.

Calls continue to come into the 0800 number with information from the public.

At the moment though we have only received several calls in relation to the shovel.

We still need to hear from anyone who may have come across the shovel, or anyone who has picked it up and taken it home.

New Zealand PM’s tears for killed backpacker’s family

[...]

Violence against tourists in New Zealand is rare and murder even more so.

The last time it happened was in 2012, when Czech backpacker Dagmar Pytlickova, 31, was kidnapped while hitchhiking.

Convicted sex offender Jason Frandi took her to a remote forest in North Otago where he killed her before taking his own life at the scene.

In 2008, Scottish woman Karen Elizabeth Aim was bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat in a Taupō street.

The 27-year-old was found lying in a pool of blood just 50 metres from the home she was staying at and later died in hospital from head injuries.

Ms Aim had found work as a supervisor at a Taupō glass-blowing studio during what was meant to be a year long working holiday.

Her killer, 14-year-old Jahche Broughton, was sentenced to life in prison at the age of just 15.

In 2005, Birgit Brauer’s trip of a lifetime was cut short after she was found dead in picturesque Lucy’s Gully, southwest of New Plymouth.

The 28-year-old German national’s murder remained unsolved for four years until the arrest of Michael Scott Wallace.

Wallace, 46, had been high on ice when he picked up Ms Brauer as she hitchhiked between Whanganui and New Plymouth.

Police said drove her to Lucy’s Gully with the intention of raping her. He used a metal bar to beat her around the head before dragging her into the bushes and stabbing her through the heart.

In 2009 he was jailed for a minimum of 18 years.

In 2003, South Korean student Hyeon Kim, 25, was murdered when hitchhiking and buried in a shallow grave near Charleston, south of Westport.

In 2010, two men were convicted of Mr Kim’s murder, which the sentencing judge declared a racially motivated killing.

Self described Neo Nazis Hayden McKenzie and Brent Flewellen were jailed for a minimum of 16 years to life.

Interesting to read in one of the articles that @Elainera posted the heading to (the original article isn't there anymore but another one with the same details is) - that his grandparents gave him the money for his stay at the City Life, but he blew it on watches and suits.

I distinctly remember reading in a NZ article that his grandparents said they gave him "a few hundred dollars" which he didn't pay back. A few hundred dollars wouldn't get him very far at all, so he was obviously getting the money from somewhere else (unless, of course, his grandparents gave him a lot more than a few hundred dollars).
The information contained in this article as well as that on The Heavy is going to cause so much damage to his trial - the mention of his admission to his followers that he has been diagnosed with anxiety for which he is taking medication, could pave the way for him to say he was under the influence when he carried out this heinous act and doesn't have any recollection of it ... especially given that the effects of some anti-depression drugs are under the spotlight here in NZ at the moment (a few have caused people to act in ways that are completely out of character).

This gives me the impression that he had pre-selected the location for the body.

It's one of the closest areas to the central city that is like that ... most of the rest of the city is built up with urban development.

Anyone used the FB intersect feature to look at the alleged guys liked photos?

First one on the list is Grace - then there are 100's of photo's liked by him - mainly young women.

I've never heard of that! Do you mean going through his list of 'likes' and then opening each one up to find his comments? (Surely not ... there must be an easier way?).

How do you do it, please? (I've tried Googling, to no avail).
