These kids need to be found! How will they fit into society as adults if they live in the woods as 'fugitives' with their Dad?

Strange. This father disappeared with his 3 young children and appears to have been keeping them hidden in a remote area of New Zealand for 3 years. The 4 were just photographed walking in the bush.

His wife has recently publicly appealed for help finding them and bringing the children home.

There is also video of him robbing a bank with a small accomplice (possibly one of his daughters), both armed, so the children are not in a safe situation.

Isn't fugitive a term of subjudice?

The father is possibly trying to shield his children from "society" and could claim the absolute defense of protecting his family from a deadly pandemic. I think he first withdrew to nature during the lockdowns

I take it that you missed his first ‘disappearing act’ with the kids?

He is a fugitive as he went into hiding before he was due to face charges in court for his previous manipulative and cruel behaviour

Not to forget that two of three kids are girls and one of them is reaching puberty. I am thinking of normal feminine hygiene and that girls, especially during periods, should not be exposed to wind, cold or ice-cold water. And then they, as adults, have to deal with pelvic inflammatory disease. I know that people can survive in the wilderness, but should they be subjected to this ordeal?

Those children also have a mother, which is not ok with the fathers actions.

Public Facebook group "Missing Marokopa Children." Administrators are the children's two older half-siblings.

*************************************************************************

The older siblings of the missing Marokopa children, taken by their father three years ago, have expressed support for their mother speaking out about the disappearance.

*****
"We are very proud of you, Mum, for speaking out. It takes courage to do so, especially amongst all of the individuals who still support Tom and his ongoing abuse," they said yesterday.

"No one can begin to imagine the daily torment you are going through, but we hope they take the time to watch this video/documentary so they are able to get an understanding of the situation our family is in."

If I'm not mistaken, there's NO other way to interpret the photo of the heist duo as an adult male and a child. Fine if HE wants to live off the land, but the children didn't sign up for any of this.

Please let them be recovered safely. ASAP.

I disagree with the locals that Tom loves his children. He loves himself, and views his children as the extensions of himself. Not three young, funny, inquisitive souls, but the material for his survivalist experiments and perhaps, another form of a manifesto. And - they are growing, and Tom is depriving them of normal separation process. The locals have to look at it from the position of the children, who were given no choice.

''Remember, this is somebody who has lived in this area all their life."
He suggested talking to a local who volunteers for Land Search and Rescue to get a more informed view.
That led us to several conversations in nearby Waitomo. One of these chats was with a group of three women who said it's time to try something new.
They said Phillips will never come out of hiding with criminal charges against him for the alleged aggravated robbery of a Te Kūiti bank last year.
Give him amnesty and guarantee him access to the children, they said.
It is a radical suggestion and seems unlikely to fly, but 1News put the question to police and sought other local reaction.''

There has been a reported sighting of fugitive father on-the-run Tom Phillips and his children.

Police said four people were seen dressed in camouflage on State Highway 4 about 8.30pm on Sunday, about 100m south of the Tikitiki Road intersection with Mapara North Road, Waikato.

The group was described as one man and three others, two described as children.

*****
"Police are now working to establish whether this is a credible sighting and are working to rule out other possible scenarios," police said in a statement on Tuesday.

"A number of enquiries have been carried out over the past two days as we work to confirm the identity of the group. We are now appealing for anyone who saw this group, or who has information about their identity, to come forward, particularly anyone who has dashcam footage from the area at the time."

Police said anyone with information on the group, including if they were a part of it, to get in touch on 105 "immediately" and cite reference number 211218/5611.

"We have received a number of calls from people in the area, and a person who was part of the group in question, which has since confirmed this sighting was not Tom Phillips or his three children.

"Police would like to thank members of the public who contacted us following the appeal, and the initial caller who reported the sighting."

With them being gone this long and with the bank robbery (cant remember how much they got or even if they got anything at all) could it be possible that they are no longer in New Zealand and have now made there way to Australia?
