I’ve followed the Denise Robert case since the beginning, and now that nearly ten years have passed, I find myself revisiting what has been publicly said — and what still hasn’t been explained.
Police stated early on that they believed there was intent or a specific motive in Denise’s killing, but they said they couldn’t discuss what supported that belief. To this day, that explanation has never been clarified publicly.
The autopsy was summarized as showing a single gunshot wound to the head, while more detailed findings have been withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation.
After all this time, the case has never been officially labeled a cold case, and there has been little public information about why.
Denise deserves to be remembered, and her case deserves continued attention. Summary of agency contact (personal outreach):
• I initially contacted one agency and was referred to a second, and then a third, before receiving a final response from the Attorney General’s Office.
• The responses confirmed that the case remains open, but did not explain why it has not been designated a cold case after nearly ten years.
• The language used was careful and procedural, and did not provide clarification on early statements about intent or motive.
• I also received a response from the FBI stating they are taking time to look into the matter, without further detail regarding their role or findings.
I’m sharing this only to explain why I began revisiting publicly available information and to see if others are aware of any clarification I may have missed.
