They are completely retracting the 6:30PM Wednesday phone call.

Couldn't get it at all, someone please post the presser when available. Sigh

At what point does this scale back and is the FBI still involved?

Yes, the FBI is still involved and we have not scaled back the search because it is not done. (Per JY)

Getting various leads from students and everyone. She can't categorize them right now.

Each agency has a skill set, and they are utilizing each one.

Oh my goodness! Just watched the presser and I'm so sorry for my thoughts on this as I watched the sister in the background.

Positive thoughts for you, Abby. I hope you're somewhere safe and sound!!!

hm so there wasn't a call made around 6 30 where it was previously reported her phone pinged. this could explain why it doesn't seem they were searching that area.

on the other hand, maybe she didn't call anyone but the phone did ping in that area and thats the last time it pinged? if thats the case im wondering why that area isn't being thoroughly searched

I just joined web sleuths, but have followed several cases in the past as a guest viewer. I finally joined because of this case. My first post here. Some thoughts.. On the Bing map, the path off Eagle Way appears to go go past the retaining pond and on into WalMart parking lot. Just saying... Anyway, something that haunts my thoughts about this: That the phone was never activated again after the 6:30 PM call. When turned on, cell phones constantly handshake with the towers to keep the system updated so that incoming calls get routed to the best tower, related to the phones location. This locating is done on modern phones by using the GPS receiver in the phone, which reports the location to the cellular system at every handshake, activation, and all calls and data exchanges. There is a photo of her taking a picture of herself in a mirror, using a smartphone, which is as capable as a computer as it is a phone (Facebook, web browsing, email, etc.). The friend who saw her walking, and her BF, mentioned she was "texting away" as she walked. It's not normal for teenagers to not be using their phones most of the time; their lives are tied to that. Hers is silent. That's what keeps coming back to my mind. I read the article where the BFs father spoke. It was heart wrenching. I was a teenager once... I can certainly empathize with the BF being sad and distraught. A persons first real love is always so special, no matter how young you are. All of this is just so perfectly awful. I have read every post, and followed every link. All of this is MOO of course.

I'm from Mass., but I've been to this area many times, not enough to give good insight, but it's a lovely area and this just breaks my heart.

I was hoping she would be found in a day or two just off with some friends or something, but it's not looking that way to me.

Prayers for her family that she is found soon.

:waitasec: Well. . . so the phone call did not happen ? ? ? Where did that information come from about the phone call? It was a headline, if I remember correctly. No answers. More questions. :dunno:

Is it SOP for a BF's father to come forward and speak to the press? I have not followed any missing teen cases. :dunno:

"XXXXX XXXXXXXX last saw Hernandez as they left school that day, as Campbell was riding away on a bus, and Hernandez was walking toward her home, James Campbell said.

"He said she was texting away on her phone as she was walking
toward her home," the elder Campbell said.

In fact, the last communication XXXXX XXXXXXXX had with
Hernandez was a text message. At 2:52 p.m. Wednesday, as he was riding the bus home and Hernandez was walking home, Hernandez texted her boyfriend a heart :heartbeat: , XXXXX XXXXXXXX said."

I couldn't get the press conference. So James D. Campbell spoke as the family friend?

I wouldn't think so. As I wrote in my first post, I can well imagine that the BF is hardly able to function, with her missing and not knowing. His father has to see and deal with that, and, somewhere it was mentioned that she spent a lot of time with them, so I can believe she was like a family member. It's also obvious to me, that the father thinks highly of her and supports his sons relationship with her. These sound like really nice people to me, all of them.

All MOO of course.

A quick recap from tonight's news conference:

- Authorities said they have no new info to release about the disappearance of 15-year-old Abigail Hernandez.
- Fish and Game officers said they didn't find any leads today, despite an expanded ground search near a pond near her home. They are planning more searches tomorrow with K-9 units.- Abby's family stood with authorities at the news conference. A family friend spoke to ask Abby to come home. She said the family loves Abby and is incredibly sad she is missing.
- Also, Associate General Jane Young said that despite printed reports of a cell phone call made near Cranmore Mountain on the night Abby went missing, that's not true. Authorities have no evidence of a phone call being made. She would not comment on whether Abby's phone is missing.

How many days in a row can they do searches with the dogs before they tire?

With regard to the phone, I find it odd that in one breath JY mentions that they are trying to track it down but, when a reporter asks her a direct question about it, she hedges and says that any information from the public would be helpful.

I couldn't get the press conference. So James D. Campbell spoke as the family friend?

No, my apologies. I am catching up for the day and just reading the article regarding the BF's father's plea for Abigail to come home. I could not get the PC either - sounds as if only a family friend (a she) spoke again. Someone mentioned Abigail's sister in the background. I'm sure there are many highs and lows in a situation like this. Upbeat yesterday and down today. My prayers for Abigail and the family. :please:
