N.H. Fish and Game conservation officers, State Police troopers, FBI agents, the Secret Service and representatives from the state Attorney General's office joined Conway police in searching the air, water and woods between Kennett and Hernandez's home in North Conway.
Huh...the Secret Service??? Not saying it is a bad idea, just I have never heard of them getting involved in a case like this before. I find that interesting.

I wonder what Abigail's parents' occupations are? Does anyone know? Not for the purpose of sleuthing them.

Her case does seem to have gotten a lot of serious attention early on (which is great!). I am not from the NH area so perhaps it is just because of the small area where a disappearance like this may be uncommon. I was just wondering if either of her parents holds a very important or special occupation or has any additional clout in the community or with the government.

Probably not, just a passing thought I had.

I am not doing any sleuthing on family either, but have only heard the mother mentioned. Have no idea if she has siblings or if there is a father in the picture.

Dixie, it is such a little close knit town that news like this is like an explosion. The daily newspaper is a freebie, you can get it at any store. I remember snickering a few weeks ago, because the police had detained 3 teen aged boys that were "scuffling" and they called it a riot.

There's a manhunt on for him. Wonder if they think he's involved?

Just do not understand about the Secret Service either, I mean because of the govt. shutdown all the campgrounds are closed, blocked off. Lotta people and business owners complaining about that.

I think the secret service is helping with the videos that may have been taken of her from the school and businesses.

The Secret Service has supported the NCMEC and local law enforcement agencies with its expertise in forensic photography, graphic arts, video production, audio/image enhancement, voice identification, computerized 3D models and video and audio tape duplication services.

Operation Safe Kids

In 1995, pursuant to the passage of the Omnibus Crime Bill, the Forensic Services Division of the United States Secret Service was mandated by Congress to provide forensic support to assist all law enforcement agencies within the United States, as well as the NCMEC, in matters involving missing and exploited children. The Secret Service Forensic Services Division readily embarked upon developing a program dedicated to capturing important forensic information that could be used in cases of missing children.

Thank you for the insight!

FBI and local police were at the Kennett High School football game tonight looking for leads from the public into the disappearance of 14-year-old Abigail Hernandez. http://on.wmur.com/GJz1TU

Everything here so far points to LE having information which they have chosen not to share.

Once again, I am very happy to see that LE is on this case with a vengeance. There are too many missing/murdered women in NH and VT over the past 30 years most of which have not been solved.

I certainly do not want to read a negative tone into this situation. I’d like for her to walk into her home right now.

I have attached some maps of the search area such as the power lines and Pudding pond which are right next to each other.

Unfortunately water washes away evidence. I would like to know what the kayaks found on the pond today if any thing.

Bring em home…moo with utmost respect for Abigail, family and LE.

There was another recent case, I believe Willow Long, where Homeland Security was called in. I remember someone explaining that LE brought in agencies for their specific expertise. In Willows case I believe it was for the heat seeking technology in corn fields. So possible that they were brought in for a specific need? I'm writing this from memory so feel free to correct me if necessary.

also:
A 44 minute walk seems long, did she walk home everyday or was this unusual? A previous poster pointed out that if she walked home everyday how would the scent dogs know if her trail was that day or the day before?

Unfortunately, if Abby walked the same, rather long route home everyday there were probably several members of the community (strangers to Abby) who knew her routine. Also, if she arrived home from school around the same time each day and neighbors/acquaintances were aware that Abby was the only family member home from after school until say, after 5:00 when the work day ends (I don't know if she was or was not) a predator would probably feel comfortable snatching her at or from the house.. knowing she would not be missed for a few hours.

As a kid, I walked the same route home from school each day. I was then alone at home until evening. I am sure many young teens follow such a routine. It's scary to think how vulnerable this situation can leave kids to predators in the community.
