oh...this sounds like Sierra Lamar. sorta
ugh

I'm thrilled to see the LE response here. Can only imagine what would have happened in other cases (Dylan Redwine, for ex) where if they'd acted fast and seriously instead of pissing around for over a week, they might have had quicker results. This one DOES remind me of Sierra Lamar. I think LE must have found something amiss at her home (which they instantly secured and properly cordoned off as a crime scene during their initial search of the place). Not feeling hopeful.

There's a manhunt on for him. Wonder if they think he's involved?

Huh...the Secret Service??? Not saying it is a bad idea, just I have never heard of them getting involved in a case like this before. I find that interesting.

I'm sorry for saying this, but these SO just need to be offed, put them outta society! There's no redeeming them, and they just keep reoffending. Think how many times they've gotten away with acts before being caught! And no telling how many more times after that before they are caught again! I say put 'em down, or start making them work in a very controlled environment. No wait, they might take away jobs that others need. Just seems so backwards to keep them :jail: and fed and housed, when we have law abiding citizens that need food and housing! We have homeless people that are dealing with a mental illness with NO help! It's just not right!!! :stormingmad:

Before I get sent to my corner... I'll just say... :truce:

The dogs traced her scent home but then it ended. So she left in a vehicle?

I wouldn't read too much into that (outside of the fact that the FBI was called in almost immediately). If you click on the link and look in the navigation banners, it is filed under "Kidnappings & Missing Persons" in the FBI site directory, which is probably just shortened to "kidnap" for the purposes of organizing the URLs. I don't think that means that the FBI thinks she was kidnapped specifically, but rather kidnappings and missing persons are filed together on their site.

Maybe BUT, this is what is listed on the FBI site. Must be something there they are suspecting a kidnapping.

I am not doing any sleuthing on family either, but have only heard the mother mentioned. Have no idea if she has siblings or if there is a father in the picture.

This mentions a mother, father and sister. Good video and looks like there is a transcript, I'll try to post it.

THIS IS THE NOON PRESS CONFERENCE WE ARE EXPECTING ON THE CONWAY SEARCH. LET'S LISTEN IN LIVE. GOOD AFTERNOON, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, JANE YOUNG FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. WE ARE HERE TO ANNOUNCE THE INVESTIGATION REMAINS ONGOING. WE CONTINUE TO TREAT THIS AS WHAT IT IS AT THIS JUNCTURE, A MISSING PERSONS INVESTIGATION. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE IS INVOLVED IN THIS MATTER. WE HAVE GOTTEN A NUMBER OF CALLS AND QUESTIONS AS TO WHY WE ARE HERE. WE ARE HERE FOR ONE REASON, TO DO WHATEVER WE CAN TO FIND ABBY. WE ARE WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE LOCALS, THE STATE POLICE, AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. SEARCHES HAVE CONTINUED AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. AND OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. WE WILL BE SEARCHING TODAY IN THE AIR. WE WILL ALSO BE DOING SEARCHES IN THE WATERWAYS. AS WELL AS ON LAND. FISH AND GAME IS ASSISTING WITH THAT. THE FBI IS BRINGING IN ADDITIONAL RESOURCES. THE STATE POLICE ARE REACHING OUT FOR OTHER STATES, TO USE SOME OF ERIC WHITMAN AS WELL. -- SOME OF THEIR EQUIPMENT AS WELL. THE FBI WILL TELL YOU THERE ARE MORE ASSETS, MORE PERSONNEL BEING DEDICATED TO THIS CASE. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL HAS JOINED US HERE TODAY. WE ARE COMING TOGETHER TO FIND THIS LITTLE GIRL TO DO EVERYTHING WE CAN. WHAT WE ASK FROM YOU AND WHAT WE ASK FROM THE PUBLIC IS TO -- IF ANYBODY SAW THIS LITTLE GIRL ON TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, PLEASE LET US KNOW. WE ARE TRYING TO PUT TOGETHER A TIMELINE OF WHEN SHE WENT MISSING, THE DAY BEFORE SHE WENT MISSING. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFORMATION, NO MATTER HOW SMALL IT IS, PLEASE PROVIDE IT TO US. WE HAVE ANALYSTS THAT ARE WORKING TO LINES. WE ARE SCOURING OVER THOSE TIPS. WE ARE TRYING TO PUT THE PIECES OF THIS PUZZLE TOGETHER TO FIND ABBY AND BRING HER HOME TO HER MOTHER, HER FATHER, AND HER SISTER. WE ARE IMPLORING YOU IN THE PUBLIC TO HELP US ALL STOP -- TO HELP US. I WILL TURN IT OVER NOW TO THE FBI TO BRIEF YOU ON WHAT STEPS THE FBI IS TAKING. AND THE CHIEF WILL ALSO PROVIDE A STATEMENT. WE WILL TAKE JUST A LIMITED NUMBER OF QUESTIONS AFTERWARDS. WE HAVE TEAMS THAT ARE CURRENTLY OUT. WE ARE COMING BACK AND ASSESSING INFORMATION AS IT COMES IN. JUST SO YOU KNOW AS A PROTOCOLS FOR HOW THIS WILL GO AT LEAST THROUGH TODAY AND MAYBE TOMORROW, WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER BRIEFING AT 6 P.M. TONIGHT. IF WE HAVE INFORMATION BEFORE THEN, WE WILL SEND OUT SOMETHING. WE ASK YOU TO COME BACK AND WE WILL ANNOUNCE ANY SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS. BUT ONCE WE END THIS PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY, WE WILL NOT BE HAVING ANY FURTHER INFORMATION UNTIL 6:00. IF YOU CALL WITH QUESTIONS, WE MAY NOT RETURN THEM. THAT IS NOT OUT OF A SENSE OF RUDENESS. IT IS BECAUSE WE ARE DOING OTHER THINGS THAT WE NEED TO DO TO FOCUS OUR ATTENTION ON FINDING ABBY. CAN WE MAKE OUR STATEMENTS AND THEN WE CAN ANSWER ANY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS YOU HAVE AFTERWARD. GOOD AFTERNOON. MY NAME IS KIERAN RAMSEY, I'M THE SPECIAL ASSISTANT AGENT IN CHARGE FOR THE FBI. WE HAVE REQUESTED ASSISTANCE FROM THE NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. WE CONTINUE TO BRING RESOURCES FROM AS FAR AS VIRGINIA AT THIS POINT. WE HAVE DEPLOYED AS WE HAVE IN OTHER CASES, A CHILD ABDUCTION RAPID DEPLOYMENT TEAM, WHICH CONSISTS OF FBI AGENTS WITH SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE IN MISSING JUVENILES AND ABDUCTION CASES. WE ALSO HAVE CONTACT WITH OUR BEHAVIORAL ANALYSIS UNIT, THE CENTER FOR ANALYSIS OF VIOLENT CRIME AND OUR CRIME AGAINST CHILDREN COORDINATORS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THE FBI HAS ANNOUNCED THAT WE ARE USING OUR 1-800-CALL -FBI TIP LINE. WE ALSO HAVE WWW.TIPS.FBI.GOV WHERE YOU CAN LEAVE TIPS. UNDER THE WANTED SECTION ON THE FBI WEBSITE, THERE ARE THE LATEST PHOTOS THAT WE HAVE OF YOUNG ABIGAIL IN SCHOOL ON THE DAY THAT SHE WENT MISSING THAT IS THE MOST RECENT PHOTO THAT WE HAVE AT THIS TIME. SHOULD YOU BE LOCAL AND YOU WANT TO CALL THE CONWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT, WE HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT WHATSOEVER. WE ARE JUST HOPING THAT WITH -- IN ANY CASE LIKE THIS THAT THE PUBLIC CAN HELP US LOCATE YOUNG ABIGAIL. AS I'M SURE EVERYONE KNOWS, THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT INVESTIGATION TO THE CONWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT AND ALL THE OTHER AGENCIES THAT ARE BEHIND ME AS WE SPEAK. PLEASE KNOW THAT THE ONLY THING WE WANT IN THIS IS ABIGAIL'S SAFE RETURN. ABBY, IF YOU ARE OUT THERE AND YOU HEAR THIS MESSAGE OR YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE, PLEASE CALL THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, YOUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS, SO THAT WE CAN THEN CONCLUDE THIS INVESTIGATION AND HAVE YOUR SAFE RETURN. THANK YOU. I WOULD JUST NOTE, AS KIERAN RAMSEY SAID, IF YOU POST THE PHOTO OF HER LAST SCENE, THE GRAY SWEATSHIRT IS NOT AN ACCURATE DEPICTION ON WHAT SHE LAST HAD. IT WAS A LIGHT SWEATER THAT HAD WHITE AND YELLOW STRIPING. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHAT SHE WAS LAST SEEN IN. THE PHOTO IS FROM THE PHOTO POOL. IT IS NOT THE BEST PRODUCTION PHOTO, BUT IT WAS THE -- IT WAS WHAT SHE WAS LAST SEEN WEARING. THAT WILL HELP US IDENTIFY HER IF SOMEONE SAW HER IN AND AROUND THE CONWAY OR NORTH CONWAY AREA. [INAUDIBLE] NO, THIS IS A MISSING PERSONS CASE AND WE ARE DOING EVERYTHING WE CAN TO FIND ABBY, BECAUSE SHE IS A CHILD. WHY SEARCHING IN THOSE PARTICULAR AREAS? DO YOU HAVE INFORMATION? WE TYPICALLY PICK THE AREAS OF THE PAST. WE KNOW THAT SHE WENT TO SCHOOL THAT DAY. AS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED, THERE WAS SOME INDICATION THAT SHE WENT HOME. OUR SEARCHES ALSO INCLUDE SOCIAL MEDIA SEARCHES. I THINK THAT WAS A QUESTION THAT WAS ASKED YESTERDAY. IN THESE INVESTIGATIONS IT IS COMMON TO LOOK AT ANYTHING FROM PHONE TO SOCIAL MEDIA. YOU TYPICALLY START WHERE THE PERSON WAS LAST KNOWN AND WE FAN OUT FROM THERE, AND THAT IS WHAT WE ARE DOING. [INDISCERNIBLE] WE ARE LOOKING AT ALL ASPECTS OF SOCIAL AND PHONE -- AT PHONE AND SOCIAL MEDIA TO HELP US PINPOINT HER. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY INVOLVED IN THE SEARCH? WE REGROUP APPROXIMATELY EVERY FIVE OR SIX HOURS TO DETERMINE WHAT THE NEXT STEPS WILL BE. I CANNOT PREDICT WHAT WILL HAPPEN SIX HOURS FROM NOW. WE HAVE ANOTHER BRIEFING SCHEDULED FOR EARLY AFTERNOON AND WE DID DO THEM AT 6:00 A.M. AND MIDAFTERNOON, AND THEN AGAIN AT NIGHT. [INDISCERNIBLE] WE HAVE DOZENS OF PEOPLE OUT. I THINK IT IS FAIR TO SAY WE HAVE SOMEWHERE NORTH OF 30 IF NOT -- NORTH OF 30, IF NOT 50, PEOPLE ENGAGED. WE HAVE VOLUNTEERS ALSO HERE WITH DOGS. WE HAVE TO ROTATE PEOPLE OUT AND BRING FRESH PEOPLE IN. WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO THAT. THE FBI INTO NEWS TO PROVIDE WHATEVER MANPOWER WE NEED. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL ALSO HAS INVESTIGATORS ON THE GROUND. AND THE STATE POLICE. I'M CONFIDENT THAT IF WE ASK FOR THE MANPOWER, WE WILL GET IT IN TRAVEL TIME. [INDISCERNIBLE] ON HER SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES, SHE LOOKS A LOT OLDER THAN 14. COULD SHE LOOK A LOT OLDER IF SOMEONE SEES HER? THE BEST WAY IS TO LOOK AT THE PHOTO. WE HAVE A PHOTO OF HER HOURS BEFORE SHE WAS LAST SEEN. THAT IS WHAT WE HAVE TO LOOK AT. SHE IS A CHILD. TOMORROW IS HER 15TH BIRTHDAY. WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE HER HOME. [INAUDIBLE] IS THERE ANY EVIDENCE THAT A CRIME MAY HAVE BEEN COMMITTED AT THE HOME? AT THIS POINT, THE FAMILY HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT COOPERATIVE. GOING TO THE HOME IS JUST A ROUTINE PART OF THE SURGE. THAT IS WHERE SHE LIVES. WE WERE LOOKING FOR CLUES THAT MIGHT LEAD US IN ANY DIRECTION. DO NOT LEAD -- READ INTO THE FACT THAT WE WERE THERE. THIS FAMILY HAS GIVEN EVERYTHING AND THEN SOME. WITHOUT THEM, WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE A LOT OF THE STEPS THAT WE HAVE TAKEN. ONE [INAUDIBLE] MORE QUESTION AND THEN WE ARE DONE. [INAUDIBLE] -- ONE MORE QUESTION AND THEN WE ARE DONE. [INAUDIBLE] WE HAVE BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL IN WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO DO. OUR ONE SUCCESS IS IN NOT LOCATING HER. WE WILL PUT OUT A BRIEFING AT 6:00 TONIGHT. I THINK THIS WILL BE OUR BRIEFING SPOT, UNLESS SOMETHING

Police spokesman Lieutenant Chris Perley told the Conway Daily Sun that detectives have found no evidence that Abigail was abducted, but they also have no idea why she vanished.

SNIPPED::

Her whereabouts remain unknown and police are growing concerned.

'There are no real significant clues leading us one way or another,' Lt Perley said.

Late Thursday night, searchers equipped with K-9s scoured the dark woods near these townhouses.

This is just off Rt. 16, and this is where Hernandez lives with her mother.

Having followed many cases, I'm leery of putting all my trust in the dogs. Sure they are a great tool for investigative purposes, but they've been wrong before as well. If this is a route she routinely takes, I'm not so sure how the dogs would know it was THAT day they are tracking versus the day before. Not sure how that works. I'm guessing that combined with the dogs tracking, they found items belonging to Abby that show she did come home. Maybe bookbag, books, pocketbook, phone, or something similar that she would have had that afternoon. If they are solely relying on the dogs, then she could have disappeared before getting home. I truly believe they have more information that she was home though.

Such a beautiful girl! I pray she is found safe and soon!!!

SNIPPED

Investigators tried a different tack on Friday afternoon. At 2:30 p.m. police set up a checkpoint along North-South Road where they handed out fliers and inquired if anyone had seen her. Cars were backed up in both directions as officers talked to each driver.

SNIPPED

It is not unusual for kids to leave school on foot, he said, including underclassmen. The school has a system to manage students riding buses, but "we depend on the kids to get on the bus."

SNIPPED:

Abigail was tracked by a police K-9 back to her apartment on Wednesday. On Friday morning, the apartment remained taped off with a police officer standing guard. Searchers also combed a nearby pond, although they said that was just a precaution, and they have no reason to suspect anything suspicious.

SNIPPED:

“We don’t give up hope until there’s a reason to give up hope,” Young said. “We don’t have that reason right now. That’s why we’re all out here.”

I'm a bit confused......they haven't given enough information or I have missed it.

So she was seen at school, has a 44 minute walk home and has vanished, so could have been abducted along the route....

However the dogs have got a scent back to the house, so they assume she went home.

If that is the case we need more info about her home.....she has a mum, dad and sister I gather....are mum and dad together and living in the house? is there a stepdad or mums boyfriend or anything in the house?
And lastly I gather no one was at home to confirm that she made it to the house?

Have they checked if any clothes or any thing else she owns is missing?

I gather because they haven't really focused on her homelife they aren't putting too much into the scent picked up by the dogs.

There really isn't much information out there. We don't know any specifics about what really is leading the authorities to believe she made it home other than the dogs' scent-tracking. No information has been put out about her family or her relationships. Maybe LE already has an idea of what happened and that's why they are playing this so close to the vest. Maybe they really have no clue as to how/why she vanished.

I was struck at how, during the presser, there was such an emphasis on calling her a "child" or "young". It sounded like they were speaking to a perp.

Whatever the case may be, please make it back, Abigail.

I can't think of a case in NH that I was not impressed with the handling of.
Despite Celina's case not being solved yet... I still adore Jane Young.

They did such an amazing job on Krista's case and other cases.
I think a lot of them are just really tough to solve, not sure why that is.

I can't think of another state that consistently reacts this well to missing people.

But wow... clicking on these news links totally took me back to Celina's case. :tears:
