Love the map idea!! Quite a community of people who care about you, Abby girl!

*can't link it from my iPad but you can find it on www.bringabbyhome.com

Just throwing this out there to see what anyone else thinks. Let me preface with my opinion that Abby met someone on the way home she knew and got into their car to accept a ride home or to meet friends or something like that and things went nutty when she got into the car. IMO she didn't intend to run away or leave home and had no intentions of not going home that day but the person she hopped in the car with had other ideas and she wasn't fully aware of what was going on until it was too late. What I'm wondering is, could the person who is holding her be keeping her under control by making her fearful to leave? Could the person who is holding her make her write a letter to state she has run away and then tell her that if she attempts to leave she'll be arrested for running away and the letter will be used as evidence? I just can't wrap my head around why someone would have the child write a letter other than to either muck with the parents and obviously the letter wasn't intended to muck with ZH, so why else have Abby write a letter home? And then it hit me, what if the person who has her told her to write a letter that she had run away and then tell her if she ever left she'd be in big trouble and everyone would hate her and never believe her. That kind of fear would certainly keep a child from attempting to leave.

From the video it appears that this particular investigator believes she's being held close by.

It does! I do wonder if he actually knows anything though or if this is all simply opinion from afar.

I thought he came across as not knowing anything.... just trying to make some guesses. According to the people running the Bring Abby Home FB, he was totally wrong about the reason for the map ~ it's not to give Abby places to "go" but instead to show how many people are thinking of her and want to see her come home. I am never a big fan of Fox News and thought his interview kind of summed up why. Just my opinion, of course!

I'm with you, Hap. I wasn't impressed, BUT the positive is it causes a stir and an up in numbers including how many people like and follow the BAH page :)

  • #867
The map originated from a follower of the page, to see how far and wide Abby supporters were sharing her face and story. I don't know where he got the idea it was to pin safe places for Abby to go…odd. Glad to see clarifications everywhere the story shows up :)

I agree he knows nothing. I don't think he or FOX news did anything to help Abby, if anything they just convinced others on the fence that Abby left willingly, that she is in no danger, and being taken care of by someone who cares about her. I was very irritated by it all. The reporter said "We know there have been letters" really? Because if there are more then one the police never told the public that. Just my opinion.

Praying this is the day that Abby will be found safe and brought home.

I just got around to watching the video (and I haven't viewed the BAH page yet). How infuriating!

Inexplicably, PI Shamshack says that the dots on the map will show Abby "a potential refuge to seek shelter"? WTH? It is mind-boggling how they will say anything to fill the segment length? Ugh!

His tone throughout was really, IMO, that she ran away and is now scared to come home because of the potential repercussions (to her and the person she is with). He even seems dismissive about the FBI's statement that they have grave concerns over her safety, indicating that she's in danger because of her age not, potentially, because someone may have kidnapped her and is holding her in their basement. There is not one mention of anything happening against Abby's will, on October 9th or now.

I'm getting so confused with all of this stuff. I guess I'm confused because I think something nefarious did happen. Why is this PI so sure she chose to leave on her own and is choosing to stay away on her own? Going back to the last press conference, why did JY say that (paraphrasing here) ZH wants the investigation to continue as any mother would? We have the BAH camp insisting that she didn't run away, wouldn't run away, and any mention of that idea get's an immediate quashing on SM and here. I don't know what I'd do if I was intimately involved in this case and I was up against such a media mountain. I hope I'd have my own army of quashers in my arsenal.

My view of the map is that it's like the map that Dylan Redwine's warriors created. It's a "who cares about Abby" map. A "where is the hope and love coming from" map. I hope Abby will make it safely home and that she'll be able to see all of the hearts that she became a part of during her ordeal.

It is difficult and confusing, MJJ. I go back to the facts and what I know from BAH Campers… there is no history of running away, there are grave concerns, one letter and truly nobody has a clue what happened to Abby, along with the LE push to get her story nationwide.

If she were in the local area NOT being held I fully believe she'd have been spotted by now OR had made further contact. I can't believe that she simply ran away and is living somewhere even if coerced a bit, living happily without contacting mom. There surely is something nefarious imho anyway… My opinion is also that she is in the area, if not immediate local area, she's in this northeast area somewhere.

I do think it is confusing for many because there is always an undertone of 'running away' yet always a squashing of running away when it is mentioned. Like one of those toys where you hammer down one dinosaur and another pops up. Continuous confusion for the public. I do suspect there are clear reasons they are not plea'ing to a captor and why they are leaving it sort of 'open' to the runaway theory. Unfortunately, it makes it impossible for people to fall in line with the abduction theory or her being held against her will. Am I making sense?

Sadly, (and I apologize for even thinking this far ahead) if when she's found, she has by some wonderful miracle been living freely with somebody, it is going to cause much apprehension to future following/supporting of missing kids as people will always remember this as 'being deceived' and may feel the same with others therefore not hop on the bandwagon so strongly. Truly, I do not think this is the case with Abby, but DANG this man didn't help with his public theories based upon nothing from what we can tell :(

I will say that the I'm now positive the nastiest commenters are all at WMUR FB page :) :) :) Even in Boston they are a bit tamer, crazy huh!

OH what I did like about this guy was that he really shined a great light on Zenya's efforts to find Abby, showing that even though it appears she's not doing anything to the many ignorant, she is continuously working at this. THAT I LOVED!

WHERE IS ABBY?????

I live in an area of New England that has a huge amount of summer visitors. IF Abby is still missing then, it will be my personal project to scrutinize faces! If anyone knows of any personal traitsm, scars, etc that would maker her more easy to spot...let me know. Of course its is my hope that she will not be missing still.......

And, yeah.... wmur commentsers are nuts.

  • #872
I'll be scrutinizing here, too. I suppose both of us already are doing so anyway!LOL Scrutinizing everything lately!

I have not watched the Fox interview with the PI (my old iPad is not video friendly). Has he been hired by ZH or LE or is he just sharing his opinion as an outsider?

....and I was sooooooo aggravated with the posters on WMUR...really makes me appreciate the intelligent and mature comments on this site.

No, he doesn't seem to be affiliated with ZH. Looks like he's licensed in MA and RI and sharing his opinion as an outsider...

I suspect Fox called him in for a story, but then again what do I know it is all a guess OINK! (ok so I still refuse to make cow noises but saying this is my own opinion ;) )

How and when did we get to a place where we now have 'old' iPads? ;)

No kidding...five years ago I thought a tablet was a pill, now I can't live without one!

Shamshak runs a PI Certificate program at Boston University and he is the expert that Fox Boston calls in to comment on many police related cases and missing persons cases. He has provided commentary for them on Abby's case in the past and also on many other missing cases. He is a former Police Chief.

Ok, maybe I'm overly emotionally this morning, but that little saying to Abby from her Mom has me crying. :(

As everyone here, I pray I'm NEVER in the position of a missing parent/grandparent/aunt, etc. It could be any of us, and there by the grace of God go I! There's many silly little quotes my kids and I share, and there Dad has his own little sayings with them. I know someone would wonder why in the world someone would call their (almost) college graduate "hot rod", "bubba", or what in the world could be meant by saying "Your point is?" or "The horse knows best!" to a senior in highschool, my kids would know exactly why and what we were saying.

I'm going for another cup of coffee....this is so sad. Please be OK Abby!!!

I know this may sound like hopeful optimism but I do wholeheartedly believe that Abby will come home safely. I am completely reassured by her mother receiving a letter, that means whoever has Abby is thinking of her as a person. That's so important. I really believe whoever has her is going to realize she should go back home and will release her. I also think if Abby has even a fraction of the strength her mother has she'll make it through this.
