Life is stranger than fiction. The man in the sketch has not done anything like this before thus the release. This isn't the garden variety abductor which is why nothing makes sense in the way we are accustomed. Thank God for that! It was sweet to see her greet her friend. Get well soon, Abbe.

I'm not so sure about this...jmo

Again, got that sick feeling from the latest interview..."released", "did not know her abductor", "did not run away from home", "haunted look in eyes", etc...

In the still picture of Abby hugging her friend it appears that her shorts fit well and she doesn't appear obviously thin compared to the pictures I saw of her before she went missing IMO. I'm wondering if this weight loss/lack of eating has come since she got home and after that video was taken.

BBM

I thought the same thing. You could be correct (about when eating issues arose).

What type of nurse is Abigail's mom? (ICU, pediatrics, labor and delivery, CCU, psychiatric, surgical, office based…..) tia

I know she works in a nursing home (or did), but I'm not sure we know if she is an actual nurse (meaning RN), or perhaps a paraprofessional or an LPN. (?)

JMO.

No doubts this guy is whacked but I think he's new at acting on his crazy. Not meant to minimize the trauma she has obviously been through.

Sometimes, I need a reminder.

When I'm at work, I've gotten frustrated when training a new team member, until I remember that they're new, and it's my job to help them.

When my 8 year old tracks in mud, I get frustrated, until I remember that he's only 8, and a kind reprimand does more than yelling.

When I'm on WS, I want all the answers: Then I remember that I'm here to help, and hope...not dissect the details of a case that hasn't yet been completed...and when it is completed, I'll still not know everything.

Just sharing a reminder for anyone who might need it, too.

Love ya, WS friends.

Glad I'm not the only one, thank you margarita. I've been watching a lot of 'House Of Horrors' on ID this past month and I'm getting an awful feeling about all this.

I am wondering if some of the lack of appetite and appearing wan and thin have to do with stress during and after Abby's release (her word via the recent Today interview)

I keep thinking this is a 15 year old girl. Whatever circumstances kept her from home for the past nine months may have been very stressful. having no clue how or what she was eating in those months, we cannot know that she wasn't fed gruel or a daily diet of rice n beans.

Couple that with her recent return and all the publicity and questions (suspicions) of the townsfolk and general public, and that could up the stress factor for anyone. JMO

Sitting back - waiting to see where LE leads next.

My fear since day one was some type of stranger abduction, but almost everyone dismissed it... law enforcement didn't though.... and I also watch too much ID and the shows they have on.... but besides that point, I wanted to point out something else.... Amanda Berry, Gina Dejesus and Michelle Knight were ALL believed to have run away.... did they??? nooooooo definitely not.... I just want to see who ever has done whatever has been done to Abby for them to be found real SOON!

I just want to bring this guy up again. He kidnapped women and released them. He even allowed one woman to write to her parents. He kept one woman for about 9 months. It has happened. There is precedent.

2Hope ~ See Bessie's excellent posting of the law regarding kidnapping, specifically I-a - if a person knowingly takes, entices, detains or conceals a child or causes the child to be taken, enticed, detained or concealed, "with the intent to detain or conceal such child from a parent, guardian, or other person having lawful physical custody "
That person is guilty of kidnapping. That person's guilt has nothing to do with what the minor child wanted. So for a person to feed her, house her, clothe her and conceal her from Law enforcement it's a crime. This is why it is so important to get the word out - there can be no question, in this case that Abby is internationally known and there is no reasonable excuse to conceal her from Law Enforcement Especially if they believed she was in danger and thought they were protecting her.

By the way you did not have the intent to take, detain, or conceal since no one was looking for them. But yes, always let LE and CPS professionals intervene. If the child is in danger, they are the people charged with that child's best interest, IMO

Youre right. You are only guilty of kidnapping if you are concealing a minor from LE with the intent to do so.

Caring for a child in your home, even if you know they have runaway, is not enough. You have to be actively concealing them with the intent to hide the child from LE.

You know, I think it would be nearly impossible for a missing person to be recognized by someone who did not know them, and who only saw their photograph (when going through day to day life).

Has such a thing ever happened? I mean, back in the day, America's Most Wanted would show photos of missing people. The person who called them in always knew them before the show. I do not mean that they knew them before they went missing, I mean they would see the photo and say, "Hey isn't Mr. X who works at the store?"

Can anyone cite to a case (besides Elizabeth Smart), where the person who found the missing person found them solely because they saw them on a missing person's photo?

Two off the top of my head:
Shasta Groene.
Brittany Mae Smith.

There have been others.
Do posters really help find missing children?

Yes they do. Many children have been found through posters.
