I'll tell you why a lot of kids have iPhones. It's cheaper to buy an iPhone than an iPod these days if you're adding a new phone to your family plan. For me and my husband, if we added one iphone 5s to our family plan, it would be $15 a month for that line, data included, plus whatever the cost of the iphone was. The 5s is 179.99 right now with my provider, so that is way cheaper than even a refurb iPod touch, which I just priced last weekend.

If it's the same price to add an iphone as it is to add a cheaper phone, and the iphone ends up being cheaper than the ipod, well, it seems like a good deal.

(Personally everyone in my family has an iphone -- siblings, parents, etc -- and it's really nice to be able to facetime.)

I agree. I got an iPhone first (cuz I'm the mom that's why!) then hubby, now all the kids have iPhones. When they had flip phones, I had to pay $5 per phone per mo to have the child locater ability. With that app, it would ping the phone but also send a message to the phone essentially telling them they were 'busted' cuz mom just checked up on them. I have 8 really bright kids who would then think of some excuse for being where they weren't supposed to be etc. also, if one of the girls were abducted, my pinging the phone would have been a huge red flag. iPhone is much more discrete about keeping tabs on my son (the other 7 are all grown up now) but now he doesn't always have to carry a phone, laptop and iPod. It's all in one. Jmo

I'll have to re-run the program tomorrow but I got hits for AH's name on a couple "name and shame" Facebook pages...I had to use Google Translate on all of the pages...Arabic I think? Here's an article I was able to find that sort of describes what they are
http://www.thisissomerset.co.uk/Fac...tory-19911630-detail/story.html#axzz2i2UniMh1
...the weird thing was it looked like they were pulling the names of people who had clicked and watched an explicitly named video that had been posted by the page itself...but then I think, is that even possible?
Anyway, had to share before I went to sleep...in case, right?

O/T - Eight kids?! You are an angel (and you live in God's country). I love Yosemite :-)

I completely agree. That site is so infuriating to me. While it can be kind of cute and innocuous when kids are young (let's say 11) it becomes filled with ratings (how pretty/ugly people think you are), tbh's, graphic bullying, all sorts of crap by the time boys and girls start really noticing each other (13-15). The very troubling part about it to me is that it can be done COMPLETELY anonymously. A person can post a horrible statement or question and not be required to identify themselves. The stay on "anon", as it is called.

This site was particularly crazy when HA was kidnapped (near SD, CA this summer). The entire nation of nut balls came out and saturated not only her account but the accounts of all of her friends. Some are still active, but it took a good month for most of them to disable their accounts. Even the victim herself was answering questions after she was rescued. SMH.

There seems to be a complete lack of understanding, let alone expectation, of privacy for young people today. I find it disturbing yet prolific.

I watched HAs case unfold. That's where I learned about that site :( I was shocked and sickened by what I saw!

Favor?

I need a good link to today's presser. Not news about the presser, I want the actual thing.

Thanks a bunch, I know someone will find it. Nothing is working for me tonight.

Today's presser I'm still not good at linking things

Did jy say that they still do not have the location of father as because if his privacy so are they just taking his word for it I'm in no way bashing him I am just wondering if when she talks I don't understand it maybe I just can't imagine them not finding his location and sending someone to speak with him as did her mother at pd for hours so they contacted him via phone maybe?? Is this odd

No, JY said they weren't giving the father's location out of respect for his privacy. In other words, JY and her team know where Abby's father is and how to contact him and JY said he has been fully cooperative, but she isn't going to give his name or contact information to the media/public.

Watching AH mother's hands as she spoke and throughout the remaining presser was heartbreaking. I'm surprised she didn't mangle that notepad into tiny pieces then set it on fire! May she find her daughter safe and well :please:

I know what you mean. I'm always impressed that parents in this horrible situation can even stand upright and breathe, much less speak to the press. I'm all but certain I would have to be hospitalized. I don't know where they find the strength.

"We have not identified a father's location out of respect for privacy," JY said. She prefaced that by saying that all immediate family members have been contacted and have been cooperative.

Aww, Zenya told Abby "Moe and Teddy miss you". I wonder if those are Abby's dogs.

The info you are questioning (after the Cinnamon Toast comment) is not on TweetTunnel. It's on the other site ******. But, yes, of course, it's terribly disconcerting. And, I was speaking coyly about your "mechanic" question. I wanted to know a bit more about your position on the topic.

I looked for a long time on TweetTunnel to find out what that was all about. Now, after finding it, and some other posts there, I don't like what I see. I get the impression she didn't either. Wonder if she might have told her mom about it at some point (or if her mom knew about it) and that was why her mom panicked and called LE so quickly, and why LE responded so strongly. MOO

IMO it's a very serious comment, even if done in jest. If I had posted that on a social site, even as a joke, I would expect LE to show up maybe, especially these days. I'd be worried after posting like that. Sounds like a threat. But that's me...

Hey, this is my first post. I am from NH and have a few things to add.

First with the timing of her mother getting out of work. It seems like its been presumed she was a nurse at the hospital 8 mins away. It's been confirmed in a few newspaper articles that she works at mountain view, which is a county nursing home located in the Carroll county complex at 93 Water Village Rd in Ossipee NH. About 50 minute drive, so I would presume her shift ended around 6.

I drove thru N. Conway on Saturday around 9am on the way to storyland in Glen. I was surprised at the lack of police presence, I don't remember seeing a single one in the areas on settlers green or anything. I was surprised at how busy the area was for 9 am. There was a craft fair downtown and every parking space filled, lots of people walking around.

The Sandwich Fair in Sandwich NH (50 minutes South) took place Friday-Monday. There was a heavy police presence and they detained, questioned and id'd any girls that looked remotely like Abigail. I know this hasn't been in the news, but I attended the fair.
