a secret life can ber as simple as not telling anyone you sneak downstairs and put mayonnaise on potato chips. It doesn'/t mean you have an affair or meet someone

What is the FBI referring to her, about her "secret life"? And if they know about it, wouldn't that lead to a suspect?

I took this comment to mean that other people close to the investigation had secrets.

I do not think Abby had secrets or a secret life. She IMO is a sweet, normal, 14 yo. I haven't seen any thing devious or pushing the limits but maybe I only touched the surface of her social media.

ETA; I read it again and it does give the impression they were speaking about Abby in particular but still, I don't think she had many "secrets" that weren't as innocent as her sweet face. I do not think they have anything to go on,, sadly.

That part of the statement confused me too. It makes it sound like they do think she met with someone, but if they did, wouldn't they be farther along than they were on October 9th? Checking her computer and phone records should give them some clue?

You would think so. I mean, what is "secret" as opposed to "private" for a girl of her age? And if the FBI can't make progress, knowing all about a girl's "secret life" well then who can?

It just feels so incredibly disheartening that with FBI and all the other LE agencies at the helm of this investigation, they still sound worryingly lost for clues. Hopefully there are a good deal more in the ways of possible leads than they seem to be indicating in their official statements.
I´m just fervently hoping that every idea is being followed up, including the more "eccentric" ones such as the one which we are not allowed to discuss here regarding the empty house.
I still would like DanaK to kindly clarify that co-incidental photo of his...

I would like to see DanaK return. I am guessing he got frustrated by not being able to say certain things here.

A persons "secret life" means the "you" that only "you" really know. We all have one. That's why no one, no matter how close, can really "know" any one of us. We are the only ones who really know our inner selves. That means that only "we ourselves" really know what we're thinking; what direction we are likely to take next, why we do what we do, etc. That's what actually drives us; it's our motivation; our inner drives, emotions, ideas and desires combined with our personality and experiences.

"Sadly, everything we know about her has not given us where she is today."

I take this as they could have an unnamed suspect but do not have enough evidence so they are playing "nice" at the moment or they are leaning towards a stranger abduction.

I think that is a stretch. What I think is that they simply do not have anything that will take them anywhere at all. In the forepart of that, as I remember anyway, they said they are no closer than they were on the day she went missing. Meaning they have nothing at all, no ideas, no useful leads and no real hope. They are at a total loss, as though she vanished into thin air.

That's pretty much how I read it, sadly.

I am with you. With all the manpower brought in on Abby's case and so very early on, they must have a mountain of info that they are properly analyzing and working. It must be terribly frustrating for LE to have gut suspects, or POI but not enough hard evidence to take it further. They must have the endurance and patience of saints. Bless LE and God bring Abby home to her loved ones.

My thoughts and opinion
Public life what all of us can see on her Facebook and other social sites
Private life what only her friends and family can see on those pages and texts with friends
And family.
Secret life what she does online and texting that her boyfriend friends and family had no idea about. Befriending an older guy kind of thing.

I'll be heading up there tonight...... hopefully while hiking this weekend in some areas that I won't mention that may or may not have been searched I'm truly hoping we come across something that could be helpful to LE in bringing Abby home...... it's maddening that this is turning out to be such a difficult case..... this pretty girl belongs with her family........

After more than 800 tips, FBI Special Agent Kieran Ramsay says, they're right where they were the afternoon Abigail vanished.

That tells me that everything they know about Abigail's disappearance, they learned the day she went missing. It does not sound to me like they have a suspect, or they have found evidence to analyze. If they did, they would still be learning new information as the days and weeks went by. It sounds like they have no idea, which is making me think she was abducted by a stranger or a very slight acquaintance.

I agree, eileenhawkeye. Now that we know more, we know the trail probably wasn't ever warm. And now is really cold.
(And I miss DanaK)
(Sorry)

If it is true they know nothing more than from day one, then they must still not know, really, if she was abducted, left on her own, lost, etc...?
