Assuming upon divorce (or split) this is Dad's home, his home where he spends time part of the year, not mom's. It isn't always as simple as it appears when a couple with kids breaks up. I don't know that we need to know all about the situation surrounding why the parents aren't together anymore nor how they split their finances, equity, etc. (which falls under who owns what home).

It isn't something that should nor needs to be public. I know, personally, it is very trying and you do what you have to in order to care for your children. I don't see anything alarming with moving around, especially as a single mom with 2 kids. Moving sucks in these situations so what I say is...GO ZENYA! She must be one tough cookie, she sure is doing an amazing job in this horrible situation.

I agree that moving sucks. That's why I'm not doing again until I retire. It's a lot of work and costs a lot of money.

Since RH doesn't live there full time, you'd think he'd want to make a traumatizing event easy on the kids. Let them stay in their home. Cause less upheaval. I'm sure ZH can't afford it on her own, so maybe that's why she had to leave. The house is a bit remote so AH wouldn't have the option of walking to school either.

Just trying to look at other items that haven't been discussed....

In NH, many people who own property here live in other states and keep vacation/investment property in NH. They come to NH, spend a few weekends and a couple of weeks in the summer then the property sts empty. Many out of towners will rent the home and you can find many off season rates for condo or townhouse if you are willing to live there from say Sept to around June or June to Sept. The renter gets to stay in a nice, usually furnished home sometimes with heat included. It helps the owners pay the property taxes on a place to rent it in the winter, especially if they are not skiing in the winter. Some people only ski so they rent their places out for the summer. It’s a possible reason ZH and AH may move often. I applaud single mothers because they are SUPER WOMEN. They have so much responsibility to provide for their children, pay the bills, keep it all going and often times kids just dont realize how hard it is. Sometimes all the kid sees is a tired mom who might seem demanding when she asks for help with chores. Kids often don’t know how much they are loved or how treasured they are and they don’t see that mom is doing the best that she can do.
When I saw ZH on tv pleading for AH’s safe return home, all I could see is her heart breaking. Mothers want the best for their children and I’m sure that she does want all of AH’s dreams to come true. She wants to see her get a driving permit, learn to drive, pick out a beautiful prom dress, graduate, go to college, and get to do all the things that kids her age get to do. It’s an exciting time in life. AH should have the chance to do all of those things. I don’t know what AH’s big dream might be, but I hope she has the chance to dream big and try to do whatever that might be. Everyday I hope to turn on the tv and hear that AH was found and she is safe. There aren’t very many stories on the news which are good and it would be great to hear something good happen for a change. It would be a living nightmare to sit around in an empty house, to see your daughter’s empty room and know she is out there somewhere and all you can do is wait and pray that you hear her voice again. Wish we could reach out and give her a hug , but the best thing anyone can do is to get AH's pictures sent to every state. :loveyou:

Why would anyone fake an abduction? Do people need attention that badly? I did have the date wrong on this article. Maybe I posted the wrong article so I will have to check.

Thank you! I've tried to explain the shorter term rental piece in that area (and many others in NH & New England) a few times before...

We rented a condo down the street from Mount Cranmore this summer for a week. I was surprised by how many of the units were empty during busy 4th of July week. I realise many people use these only as ski lodges, but I always thought there would be many year round residents as well. We never saw anyone else at the pool, basketball court, or saw more than a handful of cars parked in the complex and there had to be 100 units.

I think it would be very easy to hide in plain sight in NC, because there are virtually a dozen similar complexes. One person comes and goes, does the food shopping, no curious neighbors because most units are vacation rentals with different folks every week or sit empty when the ski slopes are bare. Many people leave the utilities on year round because sites like Homeaway and VRBO take care of getting short term tenants. The doors all had pin code locks. Anyone that cleaned units or did regular maintenance would have the code and access at any time.

Also, if you were to harm someone and leave them in a vacant unit, nobody would know for months. I wonder if LE not only went door to door but also asked to be let into all these empty buildings?

I am beginning to think Abby hasn't been found, because she doesn't want to be found.

I'm trying to put myself in her shoes. Starting a new school. Sister away at college. Dad out of state. Mom working. Bf's family is more of her family at the moment. They are the ones she spent her summer with. She is the one she went to faires with. I'm guessing AH was a bit sad and lonely. But why leave? Why not settle in with bf's family? Did they break up leading to more sadness and isolation? Did she feel she was bothering them by being around so much?

Her tumblr and facebook (what we can see anyway) aren't your typical teen with the awful selfies in the bathroom mirror and fish lips. She has a lot of introspective style quotes and photos. She also seems to believe in Jesus and God. She "likes" different religious facebook groups. Would she have reached out to someone that claimed to be able to "save" her?

Typing as I think...sorry if it rambles.

I posted earlier that best case scenario was Abby meeting a decent guy at the hotel she worked at, hitching a ride with him to another state or country (Canada). The hotel idea has had me thinking...

I keep coming back to the article I read on human trafficking in NH. Hope this link works, http://www.unionleader.com/article/20131016/NEWS03/131019370&source=RSS

The article said that traffickers roll into town, set up shop in hotels/condos for a short period of time, then move onto another city to avoid detection. What if...a ring was in N. Conway for the holiday weekend, decided to recruit/kidnap another girl before leaving town, saw Abby at her hotel job on Monday or elsewhere, maybe they were renting some condos at Cranmore Mtn., and nabbed her.

If she was a random pick, they could have grabbed her off the street, but much easier to lure her if she had been experimenting with drugs and looking for marijuana etc. Would she get into a car willingly with a stranger?

Maybe if she was dependent on something, withdrawing, the guy was young and good-looking and the car was somewhat expensive, like an SUV.

Or possibly, if the good-looking guy in the expensive car was offering her a modeling opportunity, etc. (assuming Abby wasn't into drugs).

It MAY explain the huge LE presence right away. If they profiled this as not just a missing children's case but also with a potential sex-trafficking ring connection. Agents working on human trafficking in NH may have been looking for activity in tourist areas over holiday weekends (harder to track down all short-term renters and hotel patrons).

It's a long shot and horrible thought, but more of a possibility of her eventual recovery, as opposed to the serial killer scenario.

Assuming Abby is caught up in the sex trade, what's the best investigative methods to find her?

Craigslist or Backpage ads for sex in all New England towns, including big cities like Boston, (maybe NY as well). Look for her picture.

Methodically checking the names and backgrounds of short-term renters in town the weekend before she went missing (too much work for LE, maybe private investigator could help)

Staking out the strip clubs and sex shops in town to see if non-local pimps were offering girls october 4-9, etc.

There were some meetup.com groups against human trafficking in North Conway but they have been disbanded. It would be interesting to be able to see when they were created and deleted and who the members were.

If you google attempted abductions in NH, Boston, Vermont, Maine, etc., there's plenty of physical descriptions/police drawings/car descriptions, etc.

Rather than saying, "we don't know what happened to Abby, no threat to N. Conway, distribute her pic", why not put publish these scratches of suspects, saying, "we don't know what happened, but if you've seen someone who looks like this or a car matching this description, contact LE".

I am trying to figure out why everyone keeps saying her & JCjr were broke up, did this come out somewhere? The week prior they were at the fair together. She supposibly sent the heart text to him. Was he maybe heartbroken and angry and she knew that he was mad at her so she sent a heart to try to calm things? was the family angry about this break up? There are so many questions around this situation it has me really thinking deep.

Another possibly related thought...I read somewhere that sex traffickers target Hispanics. Not sure why. Maybe exotic looks are more appealing, but possibly another way to avoid detection. Many people assume they are here illegally. Maybe they get less media attention than nonhispanics, especially blondes when they go missing. I would assume so. (Not true for Abby for some reason- maybe bc she was young enough, attractive enough, and apparently well-loved enough to get her a spot on Nancy Grace, etc.)

If this is true, maybe LE jumped so quickly into action with so many FBI and SS because she is a Hispanic teen who disappeared after a busy holiday weekend in a tourist town, possibly increasing the possibility that a sex trafficking ring was involved.

where is the there ANYTHING stating she worked at a hotel???? These are rumors and shouldn't be here as FACTS.... all we have heard is she had a "cleaning job on Mondays" for all any of us know she cleaned for a family friend's house once a week..... there is too much misinformation being put out there and none of it is going to help bring Abby home...... if it isn't known as a "fact" or has not come directly from the mouth of Senior Assistant Attorney General Jane Young or FBI Special Agent in Charge Kieran Ramsey it is NOT FACT and should not be put out there..... if you are considering it a THEORY, please please state so......... PLEASE!!!!!

I wouldn't put too much into the breakup thing. JC still refers to Abby as his son's "girlfriend", not his ex girlfriend.

  • #937
I think that this is true do to the fact if they are taken out of the country they seem to fit in a little more as far as setting off a red flag such as a blonde hair caucasian female rather then someone outside of the caucasian race.

Yes he does, but sometimes teens dont inform the parents about breaking up with their BF/GF because they feel embarrased or hurt and dont want to discuss it with anyone. I think that she was going through some things and was distancing herself from him so he would not be hurt. This is just pure speculation.

Sorry, I'm not sure where I read that she worked at a hotel. If in fact it's a rumor, mods are invited to snip it from my posts. It wasn't an essential element of the sex trafficking theory.
