Well Sarah Palin got to be governor, lol...
Just kidding.
I know nothing of Jane Young, which is why I asked.
We have had women in powerful in my state whose incompetence at times was midn-boggling, as well as men, so it does make one wonder...some people DO get into high positions when they shouldn't. JMO

That's true. I suppose I was feeling a bit defensive about how LE is being criticized on the thread at times but I shouldn't imply more in a post than is stated.

Thanks for responding to me Honeybun.

Thank You. I feel better knowing Abby has some excellent people handling her case.

Remembering too that every person in government is going to have their critics.

The problem here is that JA's praises can be sung over and over again while those of us with a differing view or those of us that question the way she is conducting this investigation have to remain silent.

Sigh...

Honestly I think frustration has set in and we all want Abby home and this case to be resolved and JA is the target.

If she is as good as you say then I too would want her expertise if my loved one went missing. We all want a hero!

What about missing Abby brought in the NH State Police Major Crimes Unit? This was just a missing girl like hundreds of others that get no attention. Why this one?

Don't get me wrong, I love NH.....but it's NH. It's hardly LA or NYC, we have a small population and considered one of the safest places to live in the US. When something like this happens there is a good chance that you know someone that knows the victim, know someone in the town, or have visited the town itself. Crime in North Conway is very low, so a missing kid is going to get major attention from the whole state.

I just cannot help but be disapointed in the case progress. I think of how inept the Boulder Police Dept was when Jon Benet first went missing. People allowed to walk all over the crime scene. Police, detectives and State's Attys that seemed to all be clueless as to how to solve a crime. And Boulder is far larger with far more resources than NC.
The Celina Cass case why unsolved? It is obvious to anyone that read the papers that someone in the home was guilty.

If she left with an older boy/man there HAS to be evidence of it emails, calls etc. And why when most missing teens leave with an older man is there no car description or picture on the news of the guy. Emily Lalinsky and Samantha Mae Dodson's guys were ID'd immediately. Why is NH handling it so differently. These girls were in no less danger.

I know this question is not directed towards me, and maybe Gitana can answer it better, but when there is suspicion of a crime (such as abduction or homicide) that brings in the need for the NH State Police Major Crimes Unit the AG's office is notified and from there is involved.... the MCU and the homicide unit of the AG's office work hand in hand as the homicide division of the AG's office falls under the AG's Public Protection Bureau

Here's the video of the first presser on Thursday evening. Jane Young is there. This is 26ish hours into Abby being reported missing. So, why was she there? That's the question that nags at me. There is a reason, obviously.

Police say 14-year old Abigail Hernandez of North Conway, N.H., was last seen on Wednesday.

Late Thursday night, searchers equipped with K-9s scoured the dark woods near these townhouses.

This is just off Rt. 16, and this is where Hernandez lives with her mother.

Police say Hernandez was last seen leaving the nearby Kennett High School on foot around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.

They say she was not found home by her mother.

Police have also had this property blocked off by crime tape, while investigators with the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit worked inside.

The North Conway police chief spoke briefly Thursday night.

Even Drew Bledsoe can have an off pass. And the Babe didn't always hit home runs. People question how well something is going when there's a history of a failure. She may be a great prosecutor, but we have to get the children home alive, that has to be the top priority. Not saying she doesn't have an impressive history of prosecution, but how's that history of finding missing people alive? That's what's got everyone worried. We're worried that the priority right now is preserving evidence for a conviction rather than making sure that we get a missing person home safe. Not saying that JY's priority, but when you ask for public help and then refuse to release any evidence to enlist that help to protect evidence, it makes that warm cozy feeling you get from a solid case a little cool.

Okay. I thought I sensed a criticism of her expertise in your post based on the timing of it as well mention of one apparently "not that difficult"
case and one "unsolved" one she has handled. I wanted to make sure that everyone understands you don't get where she is without superior skills and also that she is among thd best of the best in general.

I was set to answer this, but see below:

Frankly, your answer is more comprehensive and informed than mine would have been. Thanks!!

Awww thank you!!! I didn't think you were still online so I answered it. If I had not known the answer I certainly wouldn't have touched this one, but I've worked with numerous LE agencies in NH for my job. Crime reporting is what I tend to specialize in but I report other "news" as well.

JMO, in any MP case, LE always focuses too much on evidence and holding back info, than on finding the person and worrying about everything else later. Again, this is JMOJMOJMO...others might say evidence is essential to convicting, etc...I say find the person, or there may be no case anyway.

I just don't think most LE are very "good" at how they deal with missing persons. I believe the more the public knows, the better the chances of finding people.

Thank you for that. Now I have a question.

What about missing Abby brought in the NH State Police Major Crimes Unit?

This was just a missing girl like hundreds of others that get no attention.

Why this one?

It was suspected as a potential abduction. Let me also remind everyone it still is a potential abduction. Nothing, not anything has been taken off the table as of yet. She may have been abducted, she may have been duped, she may have left willingly. It is still totally unknown. Me personally this looks like a potential abduction

Potential abduction. That's why. This is a child who has no money and took nothing important or necessary with her!!! No matter where any of us live and the mindset that "oh this just doesn't happen here" well, I've lived it first hand...twice!!!! It does happen and it can happen!!! Anywhere!!

Smaller state, small population, when a child goes missing, even a teen, LE probably is able to respond in force far more than in a larger metro area. The rarer the incident, the higher the response level. Ideally, all missing kids would get the same response but that is never going to happen.

I would say Zenya's interview with the Conway Daily Sun explains a lot about the initial LE response.... I DO NOT believe this child ran away and I DO NOT believe that law enforcement believes she ran away either.....

I tend to disagree. Wasn't it written or said just the other day Abby was a runaway? I will look around and see if I can find where I saw that. Hold the phone!

BTW if she was abducted I don't think she would be sending letters to mom via the Post Office. Who ever heard of that?

Describing Abby per her Mom in the above video...
Compassionate, caring, loves animals, writes poetry, draws, runs, could have curly or straight hair, bought purse in Walmart in Sept, necklace from a friend, good student, two dogs, goldfish, wonderful person, truly cares, belongs to a gym, good/excellent writer, very kind person,

Father doesn't live in NH per Abby's Mom. He misses her.

PO Box not in city they live in, didn't expect a letter, and hadn't checked mail. Didn't say if she recognized that the letter was from Abby by the envelope. "Did you recognize the handwriting right away?" Reporter, "Ummm, it's a tough question." Abby's Mom.

Mom prays she's OK. Doesn't want to go into where she might be, or theories.

The video has stopped twice at the same spot! I can't hear the rest of it!!

Who is in the man in the suit? You can see his reflection on the right above where the camera is in that video. Can't figure out who he is!
