The real CMK worked out of LaPorte TX. in the early 1980s and did not have any problems with ID theft until after that. And the suspect didn't use CMK until 1984 in SoCal. The RV Park that he called from N. Cali was not too far from LaPorte TX. ..... (Denise LaPorte?....) more dots connecting, but it is difficult to make solid lines after all these years.

I wonder what were the circumstances of his being arrested for driving a stolen auto. Was he speeding or breaking another law, or did a law officer just happen to notice the car was stolen? The Preston Idaho article said Robert Evans/Gerry Mockerman "may have worked on a farm", which may indicate he was raised on a farm (may have tried out his killing method there). If other relatives were law breakers, and spent time in jail, hopefully there could be a DNA match to them.

Throwing a thought running around in my head.....
We do not know where Denise B is at this point could it be possible the 6 month old was another child Denise B had after leaving NH. May not be likely but There is a 4 year span anything is possible.

The one we know he stole was from Idaho. I think that they just said that the car from TX was registered there.

The truck RE was driving when He abandoned D/L (1986) was registered to Texas.

The Idaho stolen vehicle came into play in 1988 it was from a Preston, ID the persons whom it was stolen from knew RE as (Mockerman)

So, what I'm trying to get at is whether or not he has a conviction in Idaho for stealing a car there so that we can find the conviction to fill in the timeline. Or, was he not prosecuted for that?

Ok gotcha, from all that has posted I would say the conviction if any would have occurred in CA. He may not have been prosecuted on the theft charge and was pursued on the abandonment charge.

In reviewing the Preston Idaho stolen vehicle, the details are fuzzy, but Robert Evans, was arrested in California, using the name of Mockerman and he was pulled over driving a vehicle stolen in Idaho. His alias in Idaho was unknown and the vehicle was stolen between 1986 and 1988. Seems these details could be better expressed.

According to the report, the suspect, Robert “Bob” Evans, held a job in Franklin County in sometime between 1987 and 1988, and stole the vehicle from a Franklin County resident who knew him as Gerald or Jerry Mockerman.

It is unknown where he was from that time until he came to Preston in 1988, possibly worked on a farm, and stole the vehicle. When he was arrested for doing so, the outstanding abandonment charges were raised.

An area that is odd

November 1988 - RE was pulled over driving a stolen vehicle
March 1989 - RE was arrested for abandonment charges

Were there any charges filed against RE/GM for the stolen vehicle as that it only states he was pulled over.

Was there also an actual arrest in Idaho for stealing the car? Now I'm confused. Did he steal the car in Idaho or Texas?

He stole the car in Idaho, but was arrested with the car in his possession in California in 1988.

When he was arrested in 1985 for the DUI he was driving a car registered in Texas.

He had a "back east" accent when he talked to Detective Grunheid. However he's also been heard with a southern accent and no accent. It seems he could turn accents on and off at will.I think the description of him as a "chameleon" is very fitting.

Interesting ...... IMO at this point do not believe he was from the New England area I may be eventually provide wrong on this.
