Might not be a symptom so much as just the way he talks. I know people who have a weird way of saying things. Some people use the word "grieving" for just being sad. I lost a precious little dog a couple of years ago, she just disappeared. I GRIEVED for weeks, but did not really know if she was actually dead or someone had stolen her. You can grieve for a loss, without any proof that the one you love is actually dead.

^^^^^This.

Right now I am going through a divorce, and I really am grieving that relationship. I bring this up because my husband is certainly not dead, and there is the possibility that we will reconcile. I even know a man who was married to a woman for over a decade, divorced, and five years later they remarried each other. So it's definitely not a permanent situation, in the sense that death is permanent, and probably some people would think it is weird that I choose to describe what I'm going through as grief.

Sadly, due to Celina's shyness, that makes her a target for an offender. They choose victims who are less sure and appear vulnerable. Whoever is involved, this person likely knew her, had met her, and assessed the risk. He must have some familiarity with her and the home as it would not be easy for a stranger to stake out the house as strangers in this area are easily noticed. An inhabitant or visitor to a house with a direct view, friend of the family, or family is most likely. If she were taken from her home, the perp knew that this was a safer choice than taking her in another manner, as they will do a risk assessment so as to not get caught. That to me suggets he may have intimate knowledge of the family, ie; the distance of Celina's bedroom to the parents bedroom, the fact her sister was not home that night. Certainly, some of this info can be gained by talking to Celina on the computer, and a handsome young man (perp posing as a handsome young man) may be able to lure her out of her home. First though, that perp had to have met or known Celina already to have assessed her and his risk.

BBM. All of the following is MOO - no links or studies to back up this one, just my experience, which may/not be relevant. :) Also, I know that "shy" means different things to different people, and when I say that I was or am "shy," it could be completely different from what people mean when they say that Celina is "shy."

Part of my shyness, or maybe it's just my general personality, is that I find a lot of things easier to say in writing than in person, face-to-face. Especially when I was younger (I'm an old woman now, 29! :D), often I would be too self-conscious to engage people - even friends - in conversation when just seeing them in the hallways, but had no real problem initiating a chat online via IM or MSN Messenger. And sometimes if someone engaged me in a face-to-face conversation, I would keep it from getting too deep or personal for the same reason. I just felt awkward! Sometimes I still do this because I don't want to get into a really personal discussion when there's a chance that we'll be joined by someone I don't necessarily want to be part of the conversation...or a lot of times it makes me uncomfortable to have my conversation partner totally focused on me and what I'm saying. But online it is easier because generally they're not just chatting to me - they're catching up on the news, playing a game, whatever - so the pressure is off. :) I can take my time answering questions and not feel like there is an expectant silence. I don't have to worry about being interrupted, because it is just the 2 of us in the IM window. So maybe if Celina was "shy" the same way I can be, it's possible that a lot of the personal info we're talking about could be learned through chats.

Snipped:
Celina Cass, a lanky 11-year-old with a girlish smile, was last seen at 9 p.m. Monday in her bedroom on her computer, said her stepfather, Wendell Noyes.

Snipped:
Cass is 5-foot, 5-inches and weighs 95 pounds. She has hazel eyes and waist-length brown hair. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt, pink pullover, blue shorts and shoes.

Snipped:
"She never goes out of the house," Noyes said in a brief telephone conversation. He said Monday night was normal, and Cass was gone when he went into her room Tuesday morning.

~ Me ~ I am 5'5 126 lbs. Celina is 5'5 95 lbs. I am 45, weighed 85-95 when I graduated hs. Could a perp have been scouting Celina out due to her immature predeveloped age or was she starting puberty already? Celina was last seen wearing a pink shirt & pink pullover - how does anybody know she had a pink shirt on if she was wearing a pullover? Wouldn't the pullover cover that shirt? Is the pullover a hoodie? She was last seen wearing shoes - well how could she have last been seen in shoes if it was 9:00 pm, she was in her bedroom, on her computer...and she "never goes out"? If she really were wearing shoes, how come the type of shoes wasn't given? Were they sneakers or shoes, sandals, flipflips - what kind of shoes & why the vagueness? Celina plays basketball yet she never goes out? If she plays basketball then she has to be part of a team. When a kid is part of a team they know other kids, they tend to socialize with those kids - so it's weird it's been said that she doesn't go out. She was on her computer, in her room, at 9:00 pm - were there parental protective restrictions on Celina's computer? Was she her own administrator? Was it a pc or laptop? I know it may be the everyday norm in rural America for a kid that's 12-15 to be driving a car, tractor, dirtbike, 4-wheeler, etc bc they have the freedom of alot of open land...but an 11 year old on a computer in her bedroom at 9:00 pm has the potential of the world population scouting her out...unless there were actually restrictions in place. Has this info been released yet? Anybody know? Again, I'm on thread 1 starting at the beginning. I have alot of catching up to do.

Also, if Celina has waist length hair, then her basketball picture given is misleading... In this picture, it looks like her hair is shoulder length.

I don't put much stock in the statement that she "never" leaves the house. Maybe they meant that she never leaves the house alone, or never leaves the house after dark. She has very few friends on her facebook and even fewer whose walls are public, but on one of them I found posts within what seemed like a short time where Celina was with her. Not sure if they were at the house or not, but in one she said they were hanging out and the other she said that she was teaching her to do cartwheels.

ETA: I have also seen articles where it is mentioned that she never left the house without her mom or sister at her side.

Sorry PJD, been there but by my choice. All I can say is it will get easier.

And let's remember that she is only 11 years old in a rural town.

All very good comments & questions.

But, as you'll see, as you read further in this thread, many of us
have asked the same Q's, made the same comments, over and over.

And we've given so many theories as to what may have happened
to Celina. Unfortunately we're not getting any real answers.

It's all sooo frustraing!

HRCODEPINK ~ Thank you honeybunches! I should probably refrain from posting until I catch up. I'm still going through the first thread. Hope I'm not confusing anyone. Xox...

I believe there is a chance Celina did leave on her own and perhaps ended up in a river. My other theory is that someone from inside the home indeed knows what happened to her.

In this tiny town, the theory I am least going with at the moment is that a stranger came in and took and/or lured her away.

I just hope the answer does come, eventually...

I have many questions about this case. The law enforcement presence is not the usual fare for a missing child that is only declared missing. We now understand more FBI personnel are coming and also a cell tower. What the heck is going on here? Is there suspicion of a serial killer operating in our north country, as there have been other females missing and never found. Something warranting this level of law enforcement is going on. I do not have a good sense about all this. Hope I am wrong but it is getting concerning.

From the most recent article at WMUR:

"On Friday evening, the police tape that surrounded the Cass home in West Stewartstown was removed and
the Major Crimes investigation truck had left. A red pickup truck on the property that drew the attention of
investigators on Wednesday was also gone."

"The FBI had no comment on Friday night when asked about the whereabouts of The FBI did say that there

persons The FBI had no comment on Friday night when asked about the whereabouts of the truck."

"The FBI did say that there have been no arrests, there are no suspects, and nobody is in custody."

"They did not comment when asked if there are any persons of interest."

Sometimes "no comment" speaks very loud.

Thanks. Anybody have a pic of the truck & tag...even if it's just the first or last digits of the tag?

STEWARTSTOWN — Tips from as far away as North Carolina and Illinois are among the hundreds received by investigators in the puzzling case of a missing girl, but as the fourth day of the intense search for her came to a close, officials say none has led them to Celina Cass.

I have an idea which will probably go nowhere! :) Can anyone direct me to the house number?

I sure do not know what to think of this case. I hope she is safe and will return home soon but from what I read, she would not run away.

I mentioned a 16 year old girl who recently went missing from her home in the middle of the night. Everyone said she wouldn't run away....but she did. They caught her on a city bus heading home a week later. However, this is Vancouver and a huge city so someone could hide out without being found.

Where Celina is is a small town....much harder to run away without being found out. So....where is Celina?

I must say that I haven't followed a case where police had crime tape up for three days, especially when not knowing if a person ran away or was abducted. Even in a murder investigation, I have not seen LE do this for 3 days. (I wish they had done that in the Hailey case!!)

A thorough search and good investigation just in case something sinister did happen...or is there something more that is going on here?

Go to Zillow.com and put in Celina's home address. When it pulls that up, it will also pull up the surrounding properties' addresses.

This has probably been posted but if not then here it is:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...nsifies_report_stepfather_was_committed_.html

Snipped:
The search for a missing New Hampshire girl intensified on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border Friday as a report surfaced that her stepfather had been involuntarily committed in 2003 for schizophrenia and arrested after allegedly threatening an ex-girlfriend.
Celina Cass' stepfather, Wendell Noyes, 47, broke into the woman's home, picked up her mattress and dropped her to the ground, threatening to throw her down the stairs, according to court papers obtained by ABC News.
The judge in the case ruled that Noyes was incompetent to stand trial and instead had him committed.
Law enforcement officials - state police from Vermont and New Hampshire, the FBI and the U.S. Border Patrol have joined the massive search - have precious little hard evidence in their investigation into Celina's vanishing.
"She was last seen in her house, so we don't have a 'last seen with,' we don't have a vehicle description and we don't have a direction of travel," Assistant New Hampshire Attorney General Jane Young told reporters.
