SALEM, NEW HAMPSHIRE (CBS) — Authorities in Salem, New Hampshire say the father of four children allegedly took the children on a trip to Colorado and is refusing to bring them home.

Salem Police Captain Joel Dolan says 30-year-old Matthew Giovanditto of Taunton picked up the children from their mother in Salem, New Hampshire and left the state.
The children are four boys, ages 9, 8, and 5, and a 3-year-old girl.

Police say the man is driving a white Chevrolet Traverse with a New Hampshire disabled veterans plate with the number 2559.
He’s also thought to be pulling a Jayco Eagle pop-up camper with plate number T400759. Officials also say that Giovanditto is probably staying in campgrounds and parking lots in the Colorado Springs and Denver area.

So this makes me sick. Wondering what this guy did that he lost custody of his children but by grabbing them he's proving he has no business getting custody. That popup camper won't provide protection in winter and those children should be in school.

Hope they catch this this guy soon before we find out what else he has planned. Makes me sad for all of them.

[h=1]Authorities believe kids missing from NH could be in Colorado Springs[/h]
The mother says her ex-husband, Matthew Giovanditto, 30, possibly drove them to Colorado and is refusing to bring them home.

According to the Salem Police Department, the mother has full custodial rights granted to her by a New Hampshire court and had made an agreement with Giovanditto to take them for a short time while she got situated.

The mother of the boys, ages 3 - 9 reported them missing. Taken by father, Matthew, on Sept 11. Why do authorities believe they are heading to Colorado? Other than it is a really gorgeous state and who doesn't want to go there? They need a skilled negotiator.

* Breaking: Police are in contact with him

Giovanditto's ex-wife reportedly said she has full custodial rights to the children, but she made arrangements for Giovanditto to take them temporarily while she got situated.

Giovanditto said that he and his ex-wife had a written agreement allowing him to have the children until Oct. 31. (Salem Police Lt. Shane Smith said the mother reportedly has a new court order which nullifies the document Giovanditto referenced.)

An arrest warrant for Giovanditto has been issued on a a charge of interference of custody across state lines, which is a class B felony.

I hope these kids are not in danger. Since their mom agreed to give them to their dad "while she got situated", perhaps he is not a danger to them. Seems like a custody dispute. Dad's not going to get to keep them, however, by taking them across the country. :scared:
