Estranged wife of Harmony Montgomery's father arrested on perjury charges

News 9 investigates has learned Kayla Montgomery, the estranged wife of Harmony Montgomery's father, was arrested on Friday at the Manchester Police Department on two charges for lying to a grand jury.

Kayla Montgomery was arrested on Friday in the lobby of the Manchester Police Department by the Manchester Police when she arrived for her daily check-in per bail conditions.


Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg told WMUR's Amy Coveno she was arrested on two counts of perjury for lying to a grand jury.

The nature of what she allegedly lied about has not been released.

She was being held at the Valley Street jail in Manchester and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.

Kayla Montgomery was arrested in the police department’s lobby when she checked in with police as part of her bail conditions, according to Manchester Police Chief Allen.

Last month, a judge at Hillsborough Superior Court – North allowed Montgomery to be released on a $5,000 unsecured appearance bond and conditions that included the requirement she check in daily at the Manchester Police Department.

Before her release, Montgomery told her husband that she still loved him and will “be there” for him, authorities said.

The stepmother of a New Hampshire girl who has been missing since 2019 pleaded not guilty to perjury charges on Monday after she was arrested over the weekend.

“The allegations as they’re laid out in the complaint is that she supposedly lied about work location and the time of her work shift,” Montgomery’s attorney Paul Garrity said.

Montgomery is accused of lying to a grand jury during testimony in May about where she worked and what her shifts were around the time her stepdaughter, Harmony Montgomery, went missing. She was released on personal recognizance bail with conditions, including that she check in daily with Manchester Police in person.

The father of a missing 8-year-old girl appeared in court Monday morning along with the girl's mother.

Adam Montgomery was appearing in family court, where cameras are not allowed. Harmony's mother, Crystal Sorey, was also there, and as she left the courthouse, she said the topic was Adam Montgomery's parental rights, something she said should be terminated.

"So that we can terminate his rights and get her the help that she needs moving forward," Sorey said. "But we're kind of stuck in a standstill until she's found."

Search for missing Harmony Montgomery has police in Manchester

The search for missing New Hampshire child, Harmony Montgomery, will have officers at a home in Manchester Tuesday.

New Hampshire State Police say several law enforcement agencies will be at 644 Union Street. That’s the home where both Adam and Kayla Montgomery previously lived.

You’re being asked to respect the privacy of the current home and stay off the property.

Harmony disappeared in 2019 when she was just 5 years old.
