Officials from Manchester police, the U.S. Marshals Office, the state attorney general's office and the FBI responded to 644 Union St., where the missing girl's father, Adam Montgomery, and his wife, Kayla Montgomery, previously lived.

A sewer plumbing team was also at the site, the Manchester Fire Department set up an incident tent, and the city Department of Public Works dropped a camera down a sewer pipe.

Union Street between Orange and Pearl streets was taped off early Tuesday morning as investigators from Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire began streaming in. Officials said they would still be working at the building into the night.

The focus was a second-floor apartment where Adam and Kayla Montgomery lived in 2021. Adam Montgomery had legal and physical custody of Harmony when she vanished more than two years ago, investigators said.

A large refrigerator was hauled out of the building wrapped in plastic and loaded onto a truck, along with other items wrapped in brown paper. Late in the day, DPW crews arrived and dropped a camera down into a city sewer pipe while FBI agents went into the truck to view the images.

Sources told News 9 that new, credible information from a person close to the investigation led to the search at the apartment.

Sorey said she told police to look into Adam Montgomery's former home, saying her intuition told her something wasn't right.

"I had been there quite a few times and passed out fliers," she said. "I had people come out while I was doing it, and some of the people said they saw her for a couple days and then said they never saw her."

"We have been told by officials that this probably will not have a good outcome or not the outcome we had hoped for, for Jamison and Harmony to be reunited together," Johnathon Miller, adoptive father of Harmony’s younger brother, Jamison, told Fox News Digital. "We have always held onto hope that Jamison and Harmony could be together again, but today that hope feels like it’s being ripped away from us, especially Jamison."

"It’s never a good thing when a fridge is seized during the search for a little girl, in this case, 8-year-old Harmony Montgomery," Fox Nation host Nancy Grace told Fox News Digital Tuesday. "She is precious, just 4-feet-tall, 50 pounds…This sweet girl battled to overcome being blind in her right eye and usually wore glasses. And that’s not all."

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — A former home of the father and stepmother of a New Hampshire girl missing since 2019 at age 5 is being searched as part of the investigation into her disappearance, police said Tuesday.

Adam and Kayla Montgomery had lived at the apartment in Manchester, police said. The time period wasn’t immediately known. Earlier this year, authorities searched a different home the couple lived in.

FBI investigators were seen bringing a refrigerator to the scene, and staffers wore hazmat suits.

Later, investigators could be seen bringing a refrigerator out of the apartment building and then wrapping it in black plastic.

Adam Montgomery had custody of his daughter, Harmony Montgomery, who was last seen in late 2019 but authorities didn’t know she was missing until last year.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office is heading up the Harmony Montgomery investigation. The office will not say what led police to search Union Street; however, a source tells me that the location was searched because of new investigatory leads that were recently developed.

It does not appear that anyone close to Harmony Montgomery has changed course and is now cooperating with investigators.

Harmony’s biological mother, Crystal Sorey, told 7NEWS by phone she always had a bad feeling about that apartment.

“I don’t know what they’re looking for really but I’m hoping that it just brings us closer to getting answers,” she said.

Retired FBI special agent Jennifer Coffindaffer says the massive evidence gathering effort is a good sign. "I think they have a definite belief that they are going to find something there and I think they have found something," Coffindaffer said.

[...]

Investigators also removed a refrigerator from the property to be taken into evidence and brought in a new one.

"The FBI cannot go into a place and remove items without replacing them," Coffindaffer said. "The FBI believes it needs to be processed for biological information and evidence."

A Manchester neighborhood is returning to normal after a 16-hour search related to missing girl Harmony Montgomery focused on the 600 block of Union Street.

In a series of text messages with News 9, Harmony Montgomery's mother, Crystal Sorey, said she hasn't been told anything about what was uncovered inside the apartment building. But a law enforcement veteran turned professor said that what happened there Tuesday indicates progress in the search for answers about what happened to Harmony.

"I'm encouraged by the fact that they are throwing all these resources at this," said Jeffrey Czarnec, professor of criminal justice at Southern New Hampshire University.

[...]

"The fact that they are able to secure a search warrant, which is not all that easy to do," he said. "You have to be very specific on your probable cause, your facts and circumstances, what you're looking for and where."
