In my opinion. Everyone is safer if this man is locked up without regard for his quality of life in terms of hope. I understand that my opinion is harsh, but so is murder. Those babies and that mother have no choice in their quality of life.

Moo..I listen to the police scanners, people are stuck with their violent kids. The social services for runaway's or anger management will not take them. Society waits for them to age out...then they are on the streets

It's unfortunate that this young man had such a rough start. It sounds similar to my upbringing so I can empathize with little Eric. I could never imagine hurting innocent children. There is no excuse. He had a chance to turn it around, but he chose the most disgusting act of violence.

The sentence imposed will allow up to six years to be suspended, making Sweeney eligible for parole at age 68 when taking into account time already served, according to Judge John Kissinger, who said he spent many hours trying to reconcile the horrific abuse Sweeney suffered as a child and the despicable violence he inflicted on his victims.

The result “reflects both the magnitude and nature of his crimes but also provides a path for the defendant — a difficult path — for him to achieve some measure of redemption and rehabilitation,” Kissinger said.

How shattering for Sean Sweeny, who was likely raised in the same environment, and tried to help his younger brother-- only to lose his wife and children. I'm so sorry for this man. JMO
