Resident Assistants were given a dorm room waiver and about 70 dollars a week to watch over the floor, hold educational and wellness events, and enforce the dorm policies.....most RA's did not typically work as door check monitors and this was so because the work-study pot of money needed to be evenly distributed so that other non-RA students could have work study.

The job that Maura had (monitor) was to sit at a desk inside the main entrance of the dorm and as people came in, would require them to show ID that they lived there...if friends came along, they had to show ID and sign in as a guest on a log sheet.

Since I never worked as a monitor, I'm not sure what the break schedule was......

Now, the parking....there were not designated parking spots for monitors...there were spots in the front for RD (Resident Director) and 15 minute parking spots that were only used by food delivery people and students who were moving a piece of furniture in or whatever....

If you had an OWL sticker, you were designated to a certain parking lot and not necessarily close to your own dorm....However, on weekends, you could park closer to the dorms on a first come first serve type of basis.

Most monitors worked in the dorm area in which they lived, so driving wasn't necessary...most people on campus walked to whatever class or job they had, Umass is like it's own little city

Thank you for clearing that up. There has been a lot of debate here as to whether Maura hit Vasi. As someone who once lived in the dorms, I knew it would be close to impossible to have a close parking spot, leave it at 1 am, and return to have it still be there. The only way she could have reasonably hit Vasi would have been if she had a reserved spot, which you confirmed she did not have.

Not really. If you read it carefully you will see that it is full of ambiguity.

Do you think Maura could've been involved in the hit and run that occurred on the same night she had some sort of breakdown at her desk (during her dorm monitor shift).

The facts are this:

Petrit Vasi was found laying in the road right near the intersections of Mattoon and Triangle at 12:20 a.m. on Friday Feb 6.

Maura was working a "weekend" shift as a dorm monitor at the Melville Dorm which meant she worked from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The hit and run took place about just a few blocks from where Maura was working.

Maura's supervisor found Maura in a canatonic-described state at approximately 1 a.m. or a little after.

Maura had already showed signs of distress prior to 1 a.m. as the supervisor was notified to go check on her, which the supervisor arrived around 1 a.m.

Also, the monitors could never leave their post....if they went on break, another backup monitor or a monitor from another dorm close-by would come fill in...I remember seeing them hand over the keys and log sheet.....they would then return like 15-30 minutes later

So, her official lot to park in was 12, north of the mullins center near parking services....as the crow flies, this is about 4,000 feet away from the dorm she was working in......if she took a break at 12 midnight and parked in lot 12, then I doubt she had the time to do that.......however, she came on at 8PM on a Friday, which means she could have found a closer spot in the lot near southwest....as I said before on weekends, it was first come first serve.....so if she managed to find a coveted empty spot lot near southwest, then yes....she would have had time to hit that person on N. pleasant/Triangle..........

The question to me, is why was she headed toward route 9 on her break? She was either going to see someone who lived in Lincoln or to route 9.....Liquor Stores close at 11pm in Massachusetts ALWAYS....at least in 2004....unless her break was earlier than we know and she was going to get liquor, it looks like she was headed toward the Lincoln apartments....

Some have speculated that Maura may have hit Vasi, and Scoops has been on here for years claiming that his research backs up his theory that Maura hit Vasi and she committed suicide. He probably comes across as sounding very sure of this, but rest assured that there is no evidence that Maura hit Vasi; it just so happens that his accident coincides with the time when Maura ostensibly began her downward spiral to that weekend.

There is absolutely no shred of evidence that Maura was involved in the hit and run.

It is just one of those odd coincidences that not long after Vasi was struck she was found at her desk having a breakdown.

That is the general consensus. Most everyone agrees that it is not impossible that Maura hit Vasi, but just that it was highly improbable and that it would not have made sense for Maura to have left campus. Again, Scoops is quite certain of this and it is the basis of his theory so he will make it sound like that is what happened, but there is no real evidence linking Maura to Vasi.

I have never linked my suicide theory to the vasi hit and run as I have repeatedly stated over the years. For many years, I never even entertained the thought that she could've been involved in the hit and run and I already had believed she had taken her own life anyways.

Okay, then why did she kill herself again? I could have sworn you were strongly implying over the years that you believe in the Vasi connection, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

And you have most certainly brought up Vasi many times here in connection with Maura. You bring it up far more than anyone else. That is fine but you must forgive me if I think that you think that there is a link there, especially when you are rather sure that Maura killed herself.
