Most documentaries like that are pretty similar (and it really wasn't a very good documentary as it was really amateurish) as they try to come up with a significant solution by the end to give the series a solid conclusion.

Unfortunately with the Maura Murray case there are no solid leads. After the point where she disappeared from the car everything is a 100% speculation. There is absolutely no legitimate evidence anywhere to tie anything or anybody to the case.
I think it was interesting for the interviews with family members, responding LE, the offical searchers, witnesses as well as the county prosecutor. I thought it a very well-rounded and non-sensationalistic series. I never said there was anything concrete that came out of the series (neither did they make that claim) but logically speaking, I believe MM was abducted that night. AJMO and we can agree to disagree.

In Media Pressure I feel like what Julie dances around is that someone had car 001 and they interacted with Maura before she was gone and it has to be someone who had access to that LE vehicle. MOO
THIS IS WHERE IT ALL LIES. AND WHERE WAS SHE GOING? MOO

Mauras brother has passed

How can one family end up experiencing so much tragedy?

It is so incredibly sad.

Julie's and Kurt's siblings and Fred's kids all gone way too soon.

Their mom passed away so young as well..

Too many years of this family suffering.
It needs to end.

I hope for a miracle to blow Maura's case wide open.

JMO

I like that it says he is survived by Julie, predeceased by Kathleen, and simply "the brother of" Maura. Too much tragedy for one family.

Just listened to that episode today. A female witness drove pass Maura's car right after the incident and saw a LE SUV #001 parked nose to nose with Maura's car. Yet at the time this witness says she came upon the scene, it was a good 10 minutes before records show any LE vehicle had arrived. The regular driver of that vehicle was noted as not on duty that day, if I recall correctly.

Additionally, there were details about a name and phone number written on a piece of paper in Maura's locked car of a person who owned a summer home in the area at the time, and there were connections with LE. The detail about the name and number wasn't made known for 19 years... extremely suspicious, IMO.

At first I assumed investigative ineptitude was the issue in this case. Now I'm believing it was deliberate ineptitude and I'm thinking some members of LE in the area know much more than they will ever let on.

The car was assigned to Cecil Smith. IIRC, it was the route he takes in the car. the car was there, then not there. Then he returned. The car was "abandoned" but they could ID who owned it - Maura's dad. Despite this, Cecil's question upon arriving was "Where's the girl"

Cecil killed himself in 2018.

I wonder if Butch Atwood helped cover

Has anyone listened to Media Pressure (hosted by MM's sister, Julie)? HIGHLY recommended if not!

My thought: I wonder why Bill wasn't on the podcast?

It may be as simple as JM wanting to keep space, as Bill was charged with felonious sexual abuse (pleaded down to a misdemeanor assault) along with a restraining order for stalking his mistress. His record has nothing to do with MM of course, but he's still a part of MM's story here.

He may not have wanted to be involved. If I were Julie (and didn't feel as if Bill was involved) I think it would just distract from what she's trying to accomplish. She also had trouble getting Maura's friends to talk in the past

Bill not being involved in the podcast is not surprising, other than the Disappeared episode in 2009-2010, he has rarely spoken publicly about the case.

this sounds/feels right to me...I think you are right on track with this!!!!! A case that has some involvement by LE is far less likely to get solved.....

So much attention has been focused on the days and weeks before Maura disappeared, with people interpreting things like why she brought a book along or how much alcohol was in the car. Really the only interesting aspect of that to me is who was she meeting in NH? We know she tried to make a reservation, so it seems unlikely to me that she set out without a destination.

Then, for what it's worth, the only other issue is what happened after the accident? Who was in contact with her and when? Was there in fact a LE vehicle on site before there is a record of one? No doubt police know the answer to that question--and if there was such a vehicle, that might tell us what happened to Maura.

Absolutely! why she was in NH and who she was going to meet with there are key to resolve her case. Jmoo.

If it was a married man he would have reason to not come public about it. Of course if all it was was a rendezvous like that there wouldn't be such need to travel so far.

Dating sites were around back then but they were still in their infancy. It's possible though.

I think she was going to the mountains because that was a favorite destination--for me, it's always the little river town I grew up in that I go to when I need to clear my head.

The thing about meeting someone is that there likely would have been a trace of that somewhere online or on her phone even in 2004.

I just recently started following this case. The amount of talk, "details", rumours, etc is absolutely staggering. I've never seen anything like it, including in JonBenét's case. I listened to the podcast series of Maura's sister Julie, I read stuff here, I found another podcast, and read lots of people talking about James Renner's blog, which has since been taken down...

Just when I thought I had a rough idea of the timeline, it changes depending on the source. Like, which witness saw the car and driver first, which police vehicle was involved, etc, etc. It's a house of smoke and mirrors. I feel like I can't confidently believe in any particular version of events.

And that's because after the school bus driver leaves Maura everything else is 99% rumor and conjecture. There is very little hard evidence in this case.

It's hard to know if the conflicting stories have to do with memory or conflicting motives (meaning - is someone obscuring the truth)
