NH NH - Maura Murray, 21, Haverhill, 9 Feb 2004 #16

The thing is, there is no evidence of it, no trace online or anywhere else of her planning to meet someone in New Hampshire or elsewhere at that time. That means that whatever she planned (if she planned anything) likely took place in one or many face-to-face discussions. We know she hooked up with a guy shortly before her disappearance, it's one thing to consider.

Who was it that she hooked up with? Have they ever given any details about it?

No. Bill Rausch found out about it after accessing her voice mail following the disappearance. It happened at a UMass party the weekend before, I don't know much more than that. I would hope police looked into it and cleared this person although nothing is certain with them.

Well the case is getting a lot of attention now. I saw it somewhere else and I came on here to see if any new updates? Alcohol she bought I always thought she plan on meeting up with somebody else or she definitely needed rehab 1 of the 2? Poor girl appears had a lot worries on her. I just like see family get some peace & relief finally. I don't want post where I saw these updates because I don't want Mods go wild on myself .

Those chat logs found on Maura's computer might have clues. They've never been released and even the content of them generally hasn't ever been confirmed, either. Probably no smoking gun, but they very well could hold clues.

Personally I think she left campus with some plan to meet up with someone. The alcohol purchase in Amherst, right before she left, especially given the amount, makes me think she was planning on meeting up with at least one other person.

I agree, some face to face discussion would be a very distinct possibility, regarding any plans she might have made beforehand.
The route she took, 302 and then into 112 would be consistent with heading towards the UMass Cabin in Bethlehem. there really isn't much else up there in the winter. It was pretty quiet! I stayed there 5 days, heading up on February 9, as she had and we left on Saturday morning, February 14. The cabin was open to any current students or alumni, so I think it's a very distinct possibility that she had that destination in mind. And yes, PLENTY of liquor flowed at those nighttime cabin parties!

it was definitely a hook up, young women don't load up the car with booze and head out to a ski lodge town with no reservations, no girlfriends... nothing...also it was on the down low..why? Did she hook up with this guy before she went missing? also true the road taken is a back way not the usual way..

the only other reason a girl might go up there alone would be to look for someone they need to talk to...or that they are trying to run in to.

think about it...the whole trip is not logical...it is not planned..there is no connection at the other end awaiting her....or is there? this has always been my problem with this road trip . mOO

If she were meeting up with someone it's very possible it was someone that didn't want to be discovered. And since she technically had a bf she might not of wanted to be discovered either.

If it was a cheating situation it would explain why if there was another person she was planning on seeing why they never would have come forward even if they were innocent of any potential crime against Maura.

And it would explain why Sara Alfieri never spoke about what happened at her dorm party ^^

Yep I remember those days (of course we didn't do it in the dorms). Hatchet Lady isn't supposed to come and chase us until midnight. So what can we do until midnight? I have an idea.

"We are coming for you kid!"

"Maura was talented in everything she did. Be it schoolwork, she got straight A's.
Be it athletics, top-notch in everything she ever did."

- Fred Jr.

It wouldn't explain why she is still not speaking 'til this day.

I thought her cousin was there? (forget if this was mentioned in Maura's sisters' pocast. Maybe she is not talking for other reasons.

I believe she is not speaking to protect someone, that's what I've believed since I first here about the case some 15 years ago.

New evidence has come to light in the disappearance of Maura Murray, providing a potential break in the infamous, decades-old cold case that points toward a former Army cadet with a violent, checkered past.

*****
But investigative journalist James Renner, who has been following Maura's case for more than a decade, told DailyMail.com he believes he's unearthed a new clue that could help solve part of the Murray puzzle.

'I think this is the best lead we've had in the case for 20 years,' said Renner.

Last month, Steffen Baldwin, the former executive director of the Union County Humane Society in Ohio, was sentenced to more than 15 years in prison after being found guilty of 32 counts of animal cruelty, bribery, theft, and various other charges.

*****
Baldwin, 44, was first arrested in August 2020 and his fingerprints were entered into the national Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) database.

Shortly after, New Hampshire State Police Cold Case Unit detective Charles West contacted authorities in Ohio to inform them that Baldwin's prints matched a fingerprint recovered from inside Maura Murray's car.

This info seems to be solely coming from James Renner. Take that how you wish

Renner aside, I haven't heard the Murrays or anyone else (John Smith, law enforcement) comment this "new" information and I say "new" because it could only be new to us but not to them. Not everything that is known can readily be shared with the public.

I have seriously doubts about this for obvious reasons. Maura and Baldwin knew each other, and apparently a single print of Baldwin was found on a CD in her car, per sources just mentioned in above comments. I can't have any confidence in this having anything meaningful to add to the case. Unless there's more to this that hasn't been released.

His fingerprint on a CD case does not put him in the car. CD cases are easily portable.
His fingerprint inside her car, like maybe on the dashboard, doesn’t mean much either, since he was a friend of hers.
Their is zero evidence anybody was in the car with her on her trip up.

What CD was the print found on and what was the date/year the CD became available? Was if a CD she had prior to leaving West Point of after? Only LE knows :)
