On maura's website someone who is working behind the scenes with the family said it has been determined that the damage to Maura's car wasn't caused by hitting a tree or a snowbank.
Although some believed Maura's car hit a tree, the family has always known that it did not........the snowbank was so tall, deep and hard that it was not possible that her car went through it;

possible speculation re the tree was because a small tree on the other side of the snowbank had some "skinned bark" -- but due to the location of the tree, and the location of the damaged bark, physics made it impossible for it to have been hit by Maura's car.

.......until the professional reconstructionist stated that evidence supports her car hitting "metal" and "going under" something, the family had believed the damage was caused by the snowbank.

it is good to keep up on Maura's site<modsnip - no longer a working website> but websleuthers do a great job too - would sure like to see you guys discussing it here as well - I suspect the "investigative pool" is quite larger.

Internet is a wonderful thing...to those of you who asked...Maura's website is down...we still don't know why...we do not believe it was hacked, but we thought it would be up this morning and it is still down...probably a glitch somewhere...just don't know.

If the site is not back up by the end of the week, we will try to put up a new site and forum which is in the works...we'll see...any computer experts out there???

If <modsnip - no longer a working site> doesn't come back up, we will hopefully be at <modsnip - no longer a working site> by week's end.

In other news, Fred's case for records was before the NH Supreme Court yesterday...the justices did not render a decision...we're not sure when a decision will be handed down...

it is believed that so much of the previous site has been lost.

to support the family and to get the new site going, please register at the new site.

thanks!

While it looks like the Maura discussion has pretty much ended on this site, anyone still interested should check both the old and new Maura sites which are both up and running at the present time.

See especially the last post by Weeper2 for a theory as controversial as that of DocWho on this site--I will not spoil it for you, look for yourself.

Thanks for reposting the Maura website link. I had it bookmarked from a much earlier thread, but couldn't seem to find it. The approach from le always had me wondering, but some of the recent things about that specific police officer adds even more questions for me.

Should people register on just the newer site or both?

I wish Maura would be found. I can't imagine being in the shoes of her parents and not knowing where my daughter is. I also wonder what happened on that night that she disappeared. Did someone give her a ride with the promise of taking her to a phone to call someone to come and get her? Did LE say that her car couldn't have been driven? Didn't she have a wreck? Seems like they found her car backed into an old garage or something like that. From what I remember it seems that LE thought is was odd that the car was backed in?

I've always wondered about the man who stopped and offered her a ride to his place...just down the road...so that she could call someone. He said that she refused help or a ride. If she refused to ride with him to use his phone why would she have gotten into a vehicle with some other person who came along? Didn't he say that he called LE to let them know where she was?

I'm wondering if someone in LE didn't come by and give her a ride and she went because it was a cop. Maybe the cop wasn't a good cop. We hear stories every so often about bad cops and the things that they have done.
Maura was a beautiful girl and probably cold and upset over wrecking her vehicle and maybe she didn't pay much attention to the man as long as she knew that he was a police officer....until it was to late.

Would LE even look at their officers? If it was an officer you can bet he wouldn't say that he picked Maura up or even saw her. I wish they would check their records and see who was working that area that night for each shift. Have them take a poly and see what would happen.

Media links re; Maura's father's lawsuit against the NH LE:

AP
CONCORD, N.H. -- The state Supreme Court ruled Wednesday state police must give more detailed descriptions and reasons for withholding their investigative files in the disappearance of Massachusetts college student Maura Murray.

State police "have not met their burden to demonstrate how disclosure of the requested documents could reasonably be expected to interfere with any investigation or enforcement proceedings," the court said in a unanimous decision.

This is a double edged sword. It seems like LE has some evidence that they need to keep close to their vest but Fred's predicament is noteworthy. I am so sorry for the lost and the continuing pain. This is the worst of the worst.

BA.. wow! good idea. i wonder if there is some psycho killer cop out there in NH... or even a psycho who dresses up like a cop.

  • #539
Thanks for the updates. I think this is good news.

You know, I once put out a theory that maybe just maybe a cop responding to an accident call that night might have come around the corner in the road when it was dark, not seen her and hit her. And maybe or maybe not caused her death at that time. He sees her there unconcious panics and puts her in his trunk and takes her somewhere. She was either dead at the time or not, but either way she ended up deceased. I thought some of the comments made by the responding officer were odd. He went out of his way to say certain things to the people in the house closest to the accident. I even thought maybe it was the construction worker because once he found out they were going to do a search of a particular area he put out the 'story' about seeing someone running down the road in the opposite direction. I was shot down and blasted for my theory so I stayed away for awhile. I had read somewhere that the place she had the accident someone was almost hit the next day standing very near her car so that's when the idea came to me. Sorry if my info seems very vague now, but that was soooo long ago and I cannot remember all the details. I will see what I can find.
