Here is a link that I often go to now to find Newspaper articles on Maura.
I hope this helps .
I was reading some of them again today and I really now feel that Maura was picked up by someone. Sbd told Maura that he was going to call police anyway just to check on her and then as soon as he left the activity around the car began. SBD called 911 from his porch and then went inside his bus to do paperwork. I think there is a pretty good chance that he would have seen her pass his house, SBD does make mention to several vehicles that passed by his house before CS arrived but SBD said he could not give a description of the vehicles but he feels any one of them could have picked her up.
Lots to comment on...
IIRC the SBD was not given a poly.... not sure if they ever got a search warrant for his place either....
If MM had scummed to the elements, I think she would have been found since I don't think she would tried to hide herself. Hiding oneself is very rare.
Appears she was in such a rush to get away from her car that she didn't do much to clean it up OR someone purposely splashed the wine around to make it appear just like it did - she had taken off to avoid a DUI...
A lot of good points here.
As wacky as the vasi hit and run angle is, there has never been anything that I have been unable to uncover that would prove that maura wasn't involved and her breakdown at work lines up perfectly with someone who had just been involved in a hit and run less than an hour before, one block over.
Maura WASN'T on a phone when she had her breakdown at work.
It is police that are speculating that a phone call had something to do with maura becoming upset. The evidence has never supported a phone call as the source of her breakdown.
Vasi's hit and run was never investigated fully, that comes from Vasi's mother. Vasi himself has no interest in pursuing who hit him.
Maura's father did show up to her campus one day later (after maura's breakdown and after the vasi hit and run). Was Fred there on a routine visit (just a few weeks after maura had spent her christmas break with family) or was Fred there because his daughter was in trouble/having a crisis and needed his help?

Agreed about the timing of dad showing up. Might've been unrelated to Vasi, no way to know, but the timing of him arriving in town after what ever upset her and then her disappearing after he left is either quite a coincidence or means dad was there to tend to something imo. Not pointing a finger at him harming her in any way but thinking it is safe to say dad knew more than he shared about something being up with her. Only my opinion.
I have thought this, too, except for one small problem, that the dog lost the scent in a place near to SBD's home I think. Which should mean if she entred the car at the point where the dog lost the scent, then shouldn't SBD have noticed a car stopping in plain sight of his home and her getting into the car? :banghead: Maybe SBD was inside his house or looking the other way at the moment?
Only arm-chair quarterbacking here.
But does it seem unusual that fred went to visit his daughter, just a few weeks after she had been home on holiday break for over a month?
Now granted, she may not have spent much time with her father, but that is a head scratcher IMO.
BBM
Sorry, Old Steve, I definitely don't believe this happened. They found the box of wine broken, which she bought (found on a receipt and maybe with her on the liquor store video). I can believe it got thrown around in the accident, along with the soda bottle containing wine. Makes more sense to me. Even with quick braking in a car, things can get thrown around---never mind accidents with impacts with trees or snowbanks. JMO

Always like getting your take on things.
I'm not saying she did not purchase the booze, only that someone might have gotten to the car and then opened the box of wine after the accident to make it appear like she was DUI...
In the accident LE report
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7_atAFvowRhT2hNLUd2UVlUc1U/edit?pli=1
where it mentions "Gish of Accident" it simply mentions the box of wine behind the drivers seat in plain sight, and red liquid splashed on driver's side of the door and ceiling. No mention of wine splashed inside the car, or the box of wine being open - so red splash could be from the soda bottle...
Could the open box of wine been (IIRC I read that it was open) been opened after the fact?
Something more nefarious at play at the scene?
Her parents were divorced. She spent winter break at her mom's house in Massachusetts as far as I know.
:bump:
Bumping for Maura. :beats:
The episode of Disappeared featuring her case was repeating on the OWN channel the other day, so I watched it for probably the 100th time . . . it still hurts my heart. :frown:
There has been rumors put out there about locals ( Local business) from the crash area .
Any input or thoughts?
I question how poorly could this car have been running if she drove it back to school. I assume she drove it from Amherst to Hanson and back during Christmas break.
Apparnetly she didn't, exactly. I believe it was towed part of the way back via AAA-plus (which has a 100-mile towing radius) and then the remainder of the way, Maura drove her dad's new car while her dad drove the Saturn. That's what I remember from previous discussion board posts.
