defence is arguing that she took her own life, and he was so stressed he left her dead in her bed and went gambling, state is he murdered her for insurance money, he was a prolific gambler, his family and friends (including his wife) had at one point tried an intervention to stop his gambling but it did not work,

I think what the ME says will be very important as that testimony has to allow for suicide to be a possibility, for his defence to have any chance.

so far from todays testimony to me it sounds like she had finally decided enough was enough, he was either unwilling or unable to do anything about his gambling addiction and she was going to divorce him and move on, he was never going to let that happen, so attempted to stage her death (at his hands) as a suicide,

we shall see how the jury sees his actions at the end of the trial

the defendant has to testify as material facts about Maureens state of mind were alluded to in defence openings, plus defence gave a detailed description of how her husband found her body, and the only way that evidence ia available has to come from him, even though openings are not evidence you have to make sure that everything you say in openings will be a part of the evidence you expect to be able to provide, as according to his defence she killed herself he moved the body and only he would know this, as when she was found she was in bed and nobody but he has ever stated she was moved,

also all information relating to her state of mind can be brought out by the state, which is a blow to the defence as all her conversations and behaviour prior to her death that she had with friends and family show no apparent suicidal ideations, she appeared to have been getting everything in place to leave him, and to be wanting to move on with her life with her children, he was the one who was losing everything,

haven't been able to watch today, their is also not much news being reported about the trial, I think the ME testified today, I will watch it on youtube, the ME ruled Maureens murder a homicide either by suffocation or strangulation the defence to challenge the ME ruling are going to attack her for being inexperienced and for relying on LE having told her that Maureen was going to divorce her husband and her marraige wasn't a happy one,

so defence will argue her conclusions were poisoned by her knowledge of outside information not just based on the science of what she saw at autopsy,

I thought ME went to crime scenes to view body in situ to gain all knowledge about deceased and crime scene, so I think defence argument as to her having prior knowledge of Maureens life circumstance prior to her murder is moot, and I doubt she based her conclusions solely on what she knew of Maureen,

ME did not testify today, seems witnesses testified to his gambling, the marraige, her Dr testified, and his sister

double post sorry, seems their may be issues within the family over the murder, his mother told one sister not to speak to LE without discussing it with a lawyer she would provide,

seems many of the defendants family were very close to Maureen and thought the defendant treated her poorly,

all the witnesses testify to what an utter b@stard he was to his wife, just unrelenting years of bullying and verbal abuse,

and like many dead vitims of domestic murder she was in most danger when she had finally decided to leave him,

I don't for one minute think she committed suicide leaving her kids to be raised by him, their has been testimony that he was an ok father when he could be bothered to be, but he was a ganbling addict, one witness said he had problems with his drinking, and when he wanted to go gambling he forgot about his kids and they got left places where he was supposed to be picking them up,

Jim Timbass testified today I see, he is the person who state alleged the defendant solicited him to murder Maureen in exchange for some of her 400,000 dollars insurance money which the defendant expected to get once his wife had been killed

Jim Timbass is another witness who has testified to the nasty horrible things the defendant would constatntly say about Maureen

defence cross of Jim Timbass was wild, I think he was a great witness for state, I do think defendant asked him to kill his wife
