I don't see any dangerous lakes or rivers that close to where he seemed to be walking. There is a small creek or brook right there but doesn't look like someone could fall in and drown.

Edited to add:

actually is it a 15 to 18 minute walk to a large pond,[ from his home to the pond]

It was reported he was taking a shortcut through the woods when he went missing. I see that the wooded area near his home is bordering on the pond area.

Yes, if he didnt have his ID he probably couldn't get into the bar. Unless he lost his wallet maybe? And his phone? I can't imagine a 22 a old college student that didn't have a phone and wouldn't take it on a Friday night when he was partying.

I dont know yet where he was walking from though.I lean towards it being a party.

Taking a shortcut through the woods is never a good idea, particularly in New Hampshire winter on a cold December night.
It doesn't necessarily sound like foul play, unless he was meeting someone in the woods.

The article above shows "Police dogs were seen searching Saturday in the area of Beards Creek, Kelley confirmed".

???? Totally the opposite way from his home?

Oh dear....another young man missing.

It sounds so innocent...young people going out to celebrate the end of the first semester, celebrate a football win, a birthday etc etc. laughing, joking and having fun with friends and the fun ends with someone missing.

This is so disturbing but someone never expects that they'll get in trouble walking home after a night out or that they are too impaired to stay safe. I hope that he's somehow ok but we know the odds.....

This say's he was reported missing at 3am and was last seen at 1-1:30am. Does he live at home with parents? Seems someone thought something was wrong right off the bat. IMO
Maybe he was badly inebriated and that concerned his friends. This is very worrisome. I remember a heartbreaking case 10+ years ago where a young UNH student, I think he was known as PJ, went missing in the winter after drinking. I think he passed out in the snow and died of exposure. No snow here yet, but sounds like it could be similar.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. That would make me think some of the people he was with at the party would/could be roommates and when they got home noticed he wasn't. Otherwise, those at this party ( bar, no clue) would probably have been drinking and not thinking to check up on him to see if he made it home safe. Or, parents were on it. I don't know. Just throwing it out there. All IMO

I'm impressed (or perhaps worried) that they sent a helicopter up so shortly. That seems unusual and perhaps ineffective in a wooded area.

Last seen 1 - 1.30 am. Reported missing 3 am. That's a very short time timeframe to call 911 for a 22 yr. old.

Wonder what had them so concerned about his whereabouts?

It is very cold in NH this time of year. Students who attend schools in colder climates have usually been made aware of the dangers of hypothermia especially when outdoors with alcohol use. Nighttime low was 20 degrees. If he left and wasn't properly dressed he could be in trouble very quickly. It may have been peers who reported him missing.
