I assume they means it wasn’t in the search areas.

Someone may have picked it up then dumped it when they realised it’s significance.

I'm late to this one and catching up but, I just wanted to add in ...

My daughter suffered a Stroke at 13, found her on the bathroom floor just as she was regaining consciousness and she'd removed most of her clothing (as much as she could with use of only one side of her body) too as she had felt overwhelmingly hot, like she was 'on fire' she said.

I'd like to hear more detail of the 'fall off bike'

What do you think it means? I can't think of even one way it wouldn't have relevance. If they found it, where it was found would have relevance wouldn't it.

I thought the police spokesman was being a bit cautious in his response in order to hide the fact that whoever had, finally, handed over the backpack had been in possession of it for several days...
However, the person could also be someone who genuinely only found it today.

But, either way, I agree with you, the location it was found in must surely have some relevance to Noah’s disappearance.

Regarding taking his laptop and book ...

My typical middle child was a bit of difficult teen and even more so after her Stroke.

She was always VERY secretive! She would take her laptop and anything she didn't want me or her sisters finding everywhere with her!

She's now 25 and I only discovered this year that she'd been groomed online from the age of 12 so! I really wish I had 'snooped' a lot more!

As for the size of the backpack, if it's the only one he had that would comfortably fit the laptop in then there's no reason to suspect it was full of a weeks worth of survival gear... if it was potentially full of stuff I think that it would've looked different to witnesses/on cctv etc ...

Within the past hour the police have said they have located a backpack, book and laptop belonging to the missing 14-year-old Noah Donohoe. The teenager was last seen in north Belfast on Sunday evening. @tv_KevinSharkey reports.

Maybe the location isn't relevant because it could have been found by a fox and deposited in someone's back garden. Just last week I put a bag of old dog food out by the bin, and a fox managed to drag it half way down the street - it was a full 12kg bag so it's very possible a fox has found and dumped the bag especially if there wasn't much in it and was light enough to drag away

Members of the public who believe they have significant information which could help the investigation into the disappearance of teenager Noah Donohoe can now use PSNI’s Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP).

Active from this afternoon, the MIPP is a 24/7 online reporting platform; another investigative tool for police to focus on finding Noah and for anyone with information to tell police what they know.

Superintendent Muir Clark said: “We recognise that huge amounts of public information is coming into us, and we are extremely thankful for that. However, I want to stress that the activation of the MIPP does not mean that police think a crime has been committed. The investigation into the teenager’s disappearance remains very much a missing person enquiry at this time.

“By activating MIPP we are simply providing the public with another way in which to report what they believe to be significant information and we would ask that the public only use MIPP if they have information in relation to Noah’s disappearance.

“If anyone has what they believe to be urgent information relating to Noah’s whereabouts, call 999 or 101. Do not use MIPP in those circumstances.”

The Major Incident Public Portal can be accessed at Public Portal. It can be accessed from any device with internet access and videos and images can be uploaded onto it.

I thought that at first but as the bag wasn't found until today, I think it's possible he took the bag with him. Unless he was seen on cctv after the bike incident without the bag and still naked. Perhaps I'm over thinking this
