NJ-10 yr old dies ejected from ride - Harvest Festival-Cumberland Cty- 14 Oct 2019

The girl was ejected from a ride called "Extreme" at 6:18 p.m. and suffered serious injuries, New Jersey State Police said in a statement.

Police said the "Extreme" is a Wisdom Super Sizzler amusement ride that spins passengers in a horizontal circle.

"We are absolutely heartbroken. Words cannot express our feelings and we extend our deepest sympathies to the individual's family and loved ones. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts," the statement said.

Festival organizers canceled a parade that was scheduled for Sunday, but said other activities will go on as scheduled, according to its website.

Capacity: 12 cars - 2 or 3 per car / 800 per hour [ <<< 800 passenger/hr?
If ea ride is full w 36 px, then 800 px, -/-36 = 22.2 turnarounds/hr (loading px, then ride, then operator unlocks lap bar, unload px.) Assuming all px waiting in line at gate, ready to enter.
Means ea turnaround = less than 3 min. Actually 60 min -/- 23 turns = 2.6 min for ea turnaround.
How long does the ride segment last? 1 min? 2 min?
Does op check closure of all 12 lap bars? Visual check? Manual-yank-lap bar check? How quickly?
How quickly can operator open all 12 lap bars?
Running ride at max capacity of 800 px/hr, seems like a lot of pressure on ride operator.
That night the ride may have been run only 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 px capacity. IDK.]

Height Requirements and Rider Restrictions
Must be 36" tall or taller to ride. [10 y/o, did she meet height requirement?]
Under 48" requires an adult. [If she did not meet ht reqmt, alone in car or w adult?]

The amusement ride that ejected and fatally injured a 10-year-old girl at a harvest festival in Cumberland County has been shut down, along with all other similar rides in use at carnivals and fairs across New Jersey, state officials said.

The Carnival Ride Safety Unit of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs is investigating the incident to determine what caused Hailey McMullen, 10, to be thrown from the Super Sizzler ride manufactured by Wisdom Rides. The ride, as well as similar rides, will remain shut down until the investigation is complete, the Associated Press reports.
