Even worse, they did look in the cellar ... they just didn't connect the drum to the crime.

ETA: The fact that the husband moved out of the Charles Street apartment to reside with family/friends several towns away following Randy's disappearance should have been LE's first clue that something was amiss at Charles Street. JMHO

Her family -- who lives in Canada -- says they're sure the remains belongs to Lehrer, because police identified her via a tattoo. Authorities are waiting on DNA results for official identification.

The Jersey City man who strangled his wife and stuffed her body in a 55-gallon drum in 2011 was sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Steven Acuna, 40, had a confrontation with Randy "Amanda" Lehrer, 32, on Aug. 13, 2011 and strangled her in their Jersey City Heights home, he admitted when he pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter on Oct. 10.
