The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said a jury sat for a six-week trial and deliberated just three hours before finding James Ray III guilty for the murder of Angela Bledsoe in 2018.

The Montclair man fled the state after shooting Bledsoe to death on Oct. 23 inside the home they shared together. Authorities say the 44-year-old mother had returned home from dropping off their daughter at school when he shot her multiple times.

Many more details and expert testimony here, too long to summarize:
RIP Angela. Now you have justice.

James Ray III, the attorney who was convicted in May of murdering his girlfriend Angela Bledsoe in their Upper Montclair home in 2018, died Sunday after being found unconscious in his cell at the Essex County Correctional Facility, said Robert Florida, a spokesman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

On an early October morning in 2018, investigators responded to a call in the affluent suburb of Montclair, New Jersey. When they arrived at the home, investigators were met with a grisly scene – 44-year-old Angela Bledsoe was lying dead on her kitchen floor.

The mother and financial adviser had been shot to death in the home she shared with her boyfriend, 55-year-old attorney James R. Ray III.

"20/20" examines the chilling case and ensuing international manhunt in an episode airing Friday, Dec. 8, at 9 p.m. ET and streaming the next day on Hulu
