He is my grandfather from my mother side

I have done some research thru “ancestry “Bc I ran my dna and my grandfather popped up
but I would like to know how I can obtain more info about my grandfather disappearance and who was the investigator and files and where are they
Any info that anyone here can help me or send me
I do have a photo of him but image file to large and I’m unable to upload to this post

I could use some real good help here bc I want to find my grandfather and solve this case and also find out if I have other relatives still alive from him

Hello & Welcome @Curiousgina74 - what a life he led! Snip below from this link Anthony Strollo

Anthony Strollo

On the morning of April 8, 1962, Strollo disappeared after leaving his residence in Fort Lee, New Jersey. His remains were never recovered and no one was ever charged in his disappearance.

When government witness Joseph Valachi later visited Genovese in prison, Genovese hinted at responsibility for Strollo's murder. There were rumors in late 1960s that Strollo was still alive, and had faked his death to avoid arrest. However, there is no substantiation to this story.

Hi there! It is indeed an interesting case. Since he disappeared from his home in Fort Lee, NJ, I would start with that police department first to see if there was an official missing persons report and/or investigation on your grandfather. You should call the department and see if you can speak to anyone there who might still be aware of the case or at least know if there is a file. If there is, given how long it's been, your best bet is to file a formal request for information which will give you access to records which are public related to the case, should there be any.

Here is a link to the Fort Lee, NJ police department website:
Police Department | Fort Lee Borough, NJ

Here is a link to the form for Fort Lee records:
https://www.fortleenj.org/DocumentCenter/View/195/Police-OPRA-PDF

And of course, given his links to organized crime, there's always the FBI. Chances are good they have a file on him, maybe even on his disappearance. The FBI Vault is a great place to start, they have lots of records that have been publicly released scanned and uploaded electronically. I did a quick scan on Organized Crime and suggest you start here in this section since there are ties to Genovese as well as it being in the same time period:

"Anthony “Fat Tony” Salerno (1911-1992) was a member of the Vito Genovese La Cosa Nostra organized crime family. This release consists of FBI investigative files between 1956 and 1966."
Anthony Salerno

If you don't find anything there, you can go the FOIA route:
Requesting FBI Records — FBI

Good luck and let us know what you find out!
