This body was found in the Atlantic Ocean by a pleasure boat. He had been dead for weeks.
He was 6' tall and 200 pounds.
He wore Levis pants and brown 'Dingo' boots. He wore a Timex watch on his left wrist, carried a small amount of change and a bronze master key with the letter '2900'.

From his Doe Network page - 2083UMNJ

Distinguishing Marks/Features: Prior surgery on the right lower arm indicated by a metal plate with screws. Healed fracture of the right lower leg bone.

Dentals: Available. If teeth #24 and #25 were present, they would be rotated toward mesial. All fillings are silver amalgam. Teeth #16 and #17 could be recent extractions. Alveolar bone height loss consistent with gum disease
Fingerprints: Not Available
DNA: Available

I wonder what 'by' a pleasure boat meant. You would think if he'd been dead in the ocean for weeks, he wouldn't stay close to the boat, he'd drift away from it. Was he tied to the boat somehow? Or perhaps he'd not long fallen in. Died in the boat weeks prior, and then rolled in because of a wave or something. Perhaps it wasn't even his boat and he just happened to be near it? Some info about the boat might be helpful. Where it was manufactured and sold, etc. He had change in his pockets and they haven't said anything specific about that, so I assume it was US money (i.e he hadn't drifted in from another country).

I think it literally just means he was found by the people on the boat- not alongside it, it is worded funny though.

I do believe it just means the people on the pleasure boat were the ones that spotted him. I just thought was an interesting marker into where his body was in relation.

Ohh, right. I thought it meant alongside!

Wonder what the tides were like and where he could have come from. He could have floated pretty far in a few weeks. Not dressed for swimming so he either went into the water for another reason (suicide, pushed by a murderer etc) or he had a boat at some point.

I've always kind of thought if a body was in the ocean, especially for some time, his body would be totally lost. I think its possible the body got snagged on the boat or something.
