NJ.com: Man charged in Atlantic City hotel killing left room in victim’s clothes, officials allege

The 34-year-old man charged in last week’s murder at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City was in the hallways of the hotel near his room and the victim’s room just before and after the killing took place, authorities said.

Andrew J. Osborne allegedly stabbed Brian A. Wilkinson, 47, in the head and neck in Wilkinson’s room and then left wearing his victim’s shoes and pants, according to an affidavit of probable cause from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office outlining murder and weapons charges against the Philadelphia man.

Wilkinson’s room door was opened from the inside at 6:57 a.m. on Sept. 23 and the deadbolt was engaged to keep it from closing, the complaint states. Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators showed Osborne in an elevator in the tower in which Wilkinson was staying at 7:09 a.m. before he is seen exiting the elevator on Wilkinson’s floor.

According to the complaint — which cites the hotel’s lock interrogation report — the door to Wilkinson’s room closed at 7:11 a.m. and didn’t open until 7:30 a.m.

Osborne is seen on camera stepping into the same elevator at 7:32 a.m. carrying a black, plastic bag and then opening the door to his room on a different floor at 7:35 a.m., the complaint says.

Less than 25 minutes later, he and a woman are then seen on security cameras leaving the hotel parking garage, the complaint states. Authorities arrested Osborne as he left his home on Gaul Street in Philadelphia around 9 p.m. on Monday.

Osborne had checked into the hotel at about 2:15 a.m. on Sept. 23, just hours before the killing. The woman with whom he shared a room prepaid for the reservation on Expedia, the affidavit said.

Wilkinson, of Egg Harbor Township, checked in alone at about 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 22. He was last seen on security cameras walking toward his room at about 10 p.m. His body was found at about 1:30 p.m. the following day.

The connection between Wilkinson and Osborne wasn’t immediately clear.

Osborne was a professional mixed martial arts fighter for several years before retiring in 2017, according to NJ1015.com.

Wilkinson worked for a construction company from 1993-2008 and then later as a bookkeeper in the medical field, according to an online obituary. He is survived by his brother, parents and many other relatives.

A spokesman for the Ocean Casino Resort previously declined to comment.

"...34-year-old Andrew Osborne was indicted by an Atlantic County Grand Jury on,
One count of first-degree murder
One count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose"

how bizarre. Curious to know what the motive is. Was it a meetup on the DL? Was it a set up (catfish) kind of think for purposes of robbery?
