RSBM I saw an in depth study on FNN just yesterday that showed most of the hate crimes committed in our country are anti-semitic hate crimes. :( It was at the alarming percentage of over 57+%. The other hate crimes committed against others didn't even come close, and were each in the low teen percentile or lower.

It is alarming that in 2019 in America the Jewish people are specifically targeted, and endure hate crimes against them more than any other.

Jmho

BBM. Can you link to proof? I do not think that is correct

OBE is correct per FBI for anti religious hate crimes.

hate-crime/2017/topic-pages-victims

Of the 1,749 victims of anti-religious hate crimes:

58.1 percent were victims of crimes motivated by their offenders’ anti-Jewish bias.

Same in Canada..
Anti-Semitic Incidents In Canada Rise To Record Number For 3rd Straight Year
April 30, 2019

"MONTREAL (JTA) — Anti-Semitic incidents in Canada rose to a record high for the third consecutive year, according to an annual audit by B’nai Brith Canada released Monday.

The audit showed 2,041 anti-Semitic incidents recorded last year in Canada – 16.5 percent more than the 1,752 incidents in 2017.

“To put that in stark perspective, this represents the third straight record-breaking year for anti-Semitism in Canada, reflecting a ‘new normal’ regarding the landscape of anti-Semitism here,” said Ran Ukashi, director of B’nai Brith Canada’s League for Human Rights.

The group said the surge was fueled by social media and was a worldwide trend."

Thanks. OP didn't specify that they were specifically talking about Anti-religious hate crimes not all hate crimes. I see from the link that Anti-religious hate crimes are a small % of hate crimes overall. That's why I asked.

Alberta Williams King, MLK Jr.'s mother, was assassinated on June 30, 1974, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, by Marcus Wayne Chenault, who also had connections with the Black Hebrew Israelites. In the same shooting, he shot dead a deacon of that church. A Findagrave page indicates Chenault's birthday was also a June 30 (1951).

It actually seems to me there might have been some weird connections between this assassination and New Jersey, particularly the NJ suburbs of NYC east of either Newark Bay or the Hackensack River (such as Jersey City). Thus, there could be some sort of connection between the shooter of Alberta King and the recent shooters in Jersey City. E.g., maybe Anderson was abused when young by an individual who also abused Chenault. Notice that the Jersey City supermarket where most were killed was off Martin Luther King Drive. Also, MLK gave a speech in Jersey City only about one week before he was assassinated in Memphis.

I believe New Jersey's deadliest disaster occurred at the Hoboken docks seventy-four years to the day before Alberta King was shot, on June 30, 1900, at the same place where the Mayor of New York would be shot by James J. Gallagher in 1910. Right before shooting the Mayor, Gallagher purportedly said "You took my bread and better; now I've got you." This reminds me of the "$10,000 is a lot of bread, but your daughter's life is the buttered topping" ransom call in the Margaret Fox, June 24, 1974, disappearance from near Burlington, NJ, less than one week before the murder of Mrs. King. Also on June 30, 1974, there was a catastrophic (24 dead) nightclub fire in Port Chester, NY, a NYC suburb. Then, on August 9, 1974, Lorraine Kelly (as in the Lorraine Motel) and Mary Ann Pryor were last seen alive at a bus stop at the corner of Broad and Slocum in Ridgefield, NJ. Gallagher shot the mayor on August 9, 1910. Nixon resigned on August 9, 1974, and I suppose being forced to resign is like an assassination. The girls were from North Bergen, NJ, which contains the cemetery where the unidentified from the Hoboken docks disaster are buried. Some newspapers at the time likened the 1912 assassination attempt on Teddy Roosevelt to the 1910 assassination attempt on the mayor. There was much speculation in 1912 that TR's attacker may have been motivated somehow by the 1904 General Slocum disaster.

The September 2016 train crash at the Hoboken terminal killed a woman and injured 114.

Five firearms have been recovered linked to Anderson and Graham, including an AR-15-style weapon, a 12-gauge shotgun, a 9-mm semiautomatic weapon, a 9-mm Glock 17, and a .22 caliber Ruger Mark 4 with a silencer. Four weapons were found inside the JC Kosher Supermarket on Martin Luther King Drive, while the Ruger was located inside the stolen U-Haul van the suspects drove to the scene.

Through serial numbers, authorities were able to trace two of them to separate gun shops in Ohio, where Graham reportedly purchased them.

@MassGuy You called it on her being the one to purchase the guns.

Also I really appreciate the transparency of this investigation. Two days after the shooting and we know what weapons they had, where and how they got the ones that have been traced so far, the content of the note they left in the truck and that there was a note, their movements immediately leading up to the shooting, and a good idea of the motive.

At this point, the leading theory is the detective had a prior source relationship with one of the suspects, which may explain why he felt comfortable meeting in the cemetery without backup and without calling it in to others.

Interesting, so they think one of them was an informant or something?

My problem with that is there are two thru roads in the cemetery, garfield and chapel ave run thru the cemetery, unlike a cemetery that has one way in and out.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused, your problem with what?

Sorry, with the theory that Seals knew one of the suspects. They could have been pulled over making last minute preps before the start of the attack when Seals approached the stolen van.

Also I have heard (radio) that LE is still searching for their van that they were living in. Wonder were they stole the rental from, haven’t read that yet.

I find it to be an odd accounting of things. So a detective with 15 years of experience goes right up to two murder suspects, with no backup, being like "hey, where'd you get that murder truck from?" Yeah that doesn't sound right. I think some of the details got lost in translation there.

It is likely that he did know them because it seems like he had a very personal, community-policing style of working, and before this, they probably would have been seen as unwell and vulnerable members of the community. It's even possible that one of them had given him tips as a source before (probably Francine, before she spiraled into insanity).

I'm going to guess what actually happened is, he saw the truck, called the dispatcher and was like "hey I found the murder truck, call for backup," and then he obviously had to keep an eye on them until backup got there. They noticed -- maybe they weren't even near the truck at the time, but found a cop watching it when they walked back over to it -- and ambushed him before he could even react.

I'm thinking he pulls up to a reported stolen van and is shot when he approaches the van. Might have known them. They were in the middle of another plan when he showed up? Too complicated?

The only problem with that is...... dispatch would have called to check on him and they didn't. Dispatch didn't know he was down until 20 minutes into the tragedy at the store. Seals was found by a passerby in the cemetery who called LE to report Seals was down.

Jersey City shooting: FBI searching for van, lawmakers hold interfaith roundtable
rbbm.
"Law enforcement says the white 2001 Ford van with license plate number B40JSD belonged to 47-year-old David Anderson, and that he and the other suspect, 50-year-old Francine Graham, were living in it after they were evicted from their Elizabeth townhome.

Authorities say a similar van was spotted at that location as they routinely sneaked into the townhouse after it was foreclosed.

And while investigators have said they believe hate to be the motive behind the murders, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop sent out a tweet that he believes the suspects were targeting the Yeshiva directly over the Kosher market on Tuesday."

"Video reportedly shows Anderson going toward the door of the Yeshiva before pivoting to enter the JC Kosher Supermarket on Martin Luther King Drive."
Jersey City shooting suspects may have Ohio ties, according to the FBI

So they didn't even live in the area? I wonder if they had any ties to the area. Or if they just targeted it because, as I speculated, they thought that area of Jersey City would not have sufficient law enforcement presence.

Jersey City shooter David Anderson had a lengthy criminal history

One of the shooters in this week's deadly attack in Jersey City was an Army veteran with a lengthy criminal history related to violence and weapons, according to law enforcement and public records.

The shooter, David Anderson, was arrested at least five times since 2003, the year he was discharged from the Army, the records show.

[....]

Anderson ran into trouble at the end of his military service. He served in the Army Reserve for four years as a specialist, repairing fuel and electrical systems, according to military records. A database of addresses indicates he had been stationed in Europe, but the Army could not confirm that.

The Army said he was discharged in September 2003 but did not have additional information about his service.

Hudson County Corrections records show that he was arrested in May 2003, the first of at least three times that he was arrested and spent time in the jail. The records show Anderson had been in jail at the time of his military discharge.

Anderson relocated to Ohio at some point after that. In 2009 he was living with his girlfriend in Kent, a city of roughly 30,000 people about 40 miles southeast of Cleveland, when police were called to the home for a domestic dispute, according to police records obtained by the Trenton bureau of the USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey.

Anderson's girlfriend told police that during the argument he punched a hole in a closet door and at one point Anderson grabbed her cheeks and said, according to the police report, "I'm gonna kill you. I feel like killing you. You made me lose everything, you can leave this world. Call the police because I'm gonna kill you."

Anderson was arrested for domestic violence threats, according to the police report. Public records show Anderson was convicted of criminal mischief that year.

Anderson was arrested again in 2011 while staying with the same girlfriend and her children without the consent or knowledge of the Portage County Metro Housing Authority, according to Lt. Michael Lewis of the Kent Police Department. Police had been called to the home for a domestic incident involving the girlfriend of Anderson and her daughter, according to police records.

At the time of the arrest in Ohio, Anderson had an active warrant in Hudson County for a weapons offense, Lewis said. Anderson was "completely cooperative" when he was detained, according to police records. The case file shows that police seized from Anderson a .22-caliber revolver at the time of his arrest.

State records show Anderson was sent to state prison in 2011 after being convicted of a weapons offense out of Hudson County but was paroled after serving a little more than four months of a multiyear sentence.

The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest but said on Thursday that it did not have information about the incident, and details were not immediately available from other law enforcement agencies.

Hudson jail records show he was transferred to state prison on the weapon offense in 2011 to serve a five-year sentence. State records show that Anderson’s sentence was set to expire in the spring of 2014.

He had been arrested twice before, in 2003 and 2007, according to the county jail records.

Both arrests occurred in Jersey City and both led to him spending about a year in jail before a judge ordered his release, according to jail records. The charges related to those arrests were not immediately available.

A search of public records did not show a criminal record for Graham.

[....]

Grewal, the attorney general, said that authorities found that Anderson and Graham had expressed interest in the Black Hebrew Israelite hate group but no formal links between the two and the group were found.

Of course an AR-15, and of course the firearms were purchased in Ohio - a state where you can easily purchase a firearm no questions asked. Here in Chicago most of the guns used in crimes are purchased (Straw Purchases) in states such as Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Kentucky, etc where firearms are easy and quick to obtain. The buyer then sells the guns to various gangs...

A source with knowledge of the investigation said he was shot once in the back of the head, behind the ear, during an encounter with armed gunmen in a stolen van.

Police officer fatally shot in Jersey City identified as 40-year-old veteran detective

.....

The deceased officer was identified as Detective Joseph Seals, who was part of the Jersey City Police Department's cease fire unit, Kelly said. Seals was in plain clothes when he was shot, Kelly said.

Officer, 3 people dead after 'targeted' shooting

.....

"I was watching the news and I saw there was a shootout and it wasn't too far from me," she said. "I saw it was in my son's district."

Mother of slain Jersey City police officer Joseph Seals reflects on son's life: 'How can people be so cruel?'

She texted Seals, who she thought was working the night shift, to see if he had heard about the events unfolding.

Seals had been shot twice, in the head and on his upper arm. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
