The bodies of Diana Patterson and her son Ryan Patterson aged 28 were found in their home stabbed repeatedly. Autopsy results showed Ms. Patterson was stabbed ten times and her son at least 20 times.

A man who in a jealous rage murdered his ex-girlfriend’s lover and that man’s mother will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Patrick Latko of Deptford Township, N.J. was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in the November 2011 murder of Ryan Patterson and his mother Diane Patterson inside their Hammonton, N.J. home. Latko showed little emotion as he was told that he must serve 126 years before he will be eligible for parole.

Latko, 34, was found guilty of both murders last month in Atlantic County court.

Ryan Patterson, a rider in the South Jersey motocross circuit, was stabbed nine times in the chest and seven times in the back, and was found dead in his bedroom. His throat was slit from "ear to ear," Chief Assistant Prosecutor Cary Shill said. His mother was stabbed 11 times and was found dead on the kitchen floor.

At 5:23 on the morning of the murders, Ryan Patterson called 911 from his cell phone and said he had been stabbed and his mother was being stabbed. He was heard saying, "I didn't do anything to you."
