Bumping. It has been 70 years since Sally was abducted.

It's also telling in retrospect just how many children who very victimized in some way were sent to juvenile detention facilities (and in Sally's case, that was exactly what her abductor threatened her with) which seems like they are the ones who are punished. I'm not saying that they didn't get help there, but you have to wonder just how much help for abuse was available since it was a subject that wasn't really talked about in those days. And of course, we've learned about mistreatment and even death in institutions as well. You have to wonder if being sent to homes like this was actually beneficial to survivors like Sally.
Well... for me no wonder there. It's no accident that children were so scared of these "institutions" that they were much more willing to go with the abductor than to risk ending up in such a place.
Of course, child as young as Sally probably didn't knew much about these places but she wasn't a toddler, surely she heard some stories here and there...

One monster who keeps harming you and might kill you every minute could actually be "safer" option than institutional mistreatment and torture, often occured in juvenile facilities. They were able to kill a child if they wanted or decide that it's misbehaving so much that deserves lobotomy, at that time still very common for kids and adults with emotional problems. In these juvenile centres kids werent even able to have hope that someone will come and rescue them.
