The Cut just did a long profile on The Watcher that includes full transcripts rather than excerpts from the letters. Also the family at the house has come forward with interviews. I know many people thought the family was behind The Watcher, but curious to hear thoughts now that there is a lot more information.

The Haunting of a Dream House
Sorry, but I had a giggle from this line in the link (my bolding):

They also hired Robert Leonard, a renowned forensic linguist — and former member of the band Sha Na Na — who didn’t find any noteworthy overlap when he scoured local online forums for similarities to The Watcher’s writing, although he did think the author might watch Game of Thrones. (Jon Snow is one of the “Watchers on the Wall.”)

I do not believe the family did this to themselves. I do believe it’s someone in close proximity to the home. Run the DNA, from the letter, through the same website that has recently solved years old crimes.

Although LE said it is not the neighbor,we all know LE says this a lot. I do think it is either the elderly mother next door or her son. Slight possibility of neighbor directly behind the house.

I wanted to add my reason for the above post.
Occam's razor, Both homes had direct view of easel and work done on the home and any conversation of workers or family at that home. Both homes occupants have a history with the house.

"The tale of a family whose life became a real-life horror movie is turning into, well, an actual horror movie. According to Deadline, Netflix just finalized a massive deal securing the film adaptation rights to a recent New York Magazine article on the infamous New Jersey "Watcher" house and the unfortunate family who happened to buy the place a few years ago."
"There's no word yet on when Netflix is expected to drop the thing or how it might end, since the Watcher is still out there doing his 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 terrifying Watcher thing to this day. We'll have to wait until the movie hits the streaming service to see if Netflix can pull it off—or, you know, hope that the Watcher makes it easy on them and finally quits terrorizing this poor family."

I was just thinking of this case and bam!....here are some posts!

I really feel sorry for the home owners....I know what it is like to be stalked, scared and worried. Fortunately for me, the stalker goofed and I got her phone number and investigators took it from there. It happened 40 years ago, but I remember it all. I hope LE catches the creep(s)....saying it nicely.

This is back in the news. Netflix bought rights to the story for a 7 figure sum to turn it into a movie. It sounds like the Broaddusses can finally sell the house at a loss now?

'The Watcher' house sold years after family was terrorized with creepy letters - CNN
August 12, 2019
(CNN)One family's nightmare is over: They finally sold the home where they were terrorized by letters from "The Watcher."

Derek and Maria Broaddus moved all of their belongings into the Westfield, New Jersey, home between June and August 2014, but they never lived there because of the threatening letters.
The couple bought the home for $1,355,657. They spent about $100,000 on renovations, court documents show. They even attempted to get permission from the city's planning board to raze the house and divide the property into two lots. However, they were denied and put the house on the market.
They sold it in early July for approximately $959,000, according to Zillow, an online real estate database.

657 Boulevard sold in early July.
The Watcher wrote three letters to the Broaddus family shortly after they moved in, identifying details such as the family's car, the contractors whom they brought in to renovate and even the couple's three children."

"A neighbor identified a man living next door to him as a possible suspect. The Broaddus family hired a private investigator and an ex-FBI profiler to try to find the identity of the Watcher. Derek Broaddus testified that the profiler concluded that it was "someone in their 50s or 60s" and lived nearby; the private investigator staked out the area and believed that the neighbors didn't "seem normal."
The Westfield Police and the Union County prosecutor's office investigated, but no one was arrested. No suspects have been publicly identified."

I wonder if the letters will return...

I suspect they might- but (MOO) I also think I already know who will be sending them. And why.

I think this is a grand hoax, and continued communication would serve to 'prove' the 'victim's ' narrative.

MOO of course.
