Authorities are asking for the public’s help as they try to find a 72-year-old Atlantic County woman with demential who has been missing for nearly a month.

Idalia Mendez walked away from her Northfield home on July 5 and was last seen on surveillance video in the area of Doughty and Delilah Road in Egg Harbor Township, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday.

Mendez was wearing a turquoise-colored flower-print shirt, blue jeans, blue head scarf and grey Sketcher sneakers, officials said. She is 4-foot-9 and about 95 pounds.

On January 25, police were alerted to the discovery of what appeared to be human skeletal remains at the ACUA Environmental Park in Egg Harbor Township.

The remains were discovered in a heavily wooded area in the park.

A forensic investigation confirmed the remains were that of Idalia Mendez.
