The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office identified Jacqueline Hoyle as the 24-year-old woman found dead early Tuesday morning in Atlantic City. On Thursday, officials ruled her manner of death a homicide.

The New Jersey Southern Regional Medical Examiner Office's autopsy said Hoyle died from a single gunshot wound.

Joseph McCoy, 43, is accused of killing Jacqueline Hoyle, 23, who was found dead at 4:22 a.m. in their apartment on North Tennessee Avenue.

Authorities have not yet found or arrested McCoy, prosecutor's spokesman Jay McKeen said in a statement.

The man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend, Jacqueline Hoyle, 23, has been arrested in North Carolina and was awaiting extradition to New Jersey, officials said.

He was arrested Jan. 5 in Charlotte by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and is being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail under Abdul Salaam, according to a police report.

When Hoyle’s former roommate and friend Keturah Foster heard the news of McCoy’s arrest, she cried “tears of joy” knowing she could “rest well.”
