Summary of article:
Janaina Freire Goncalves is a Brazilian immigrant.
She was last seen the night of March 10, 2025
One of her friends reported her missing to the Elizabeth PD on March 15 after she had tried for several days to reach her. Another friend says PD won't respond to requests for information. Elizabeth PD told NJ Advance Media that the case is being handled by the Union County Prosecutor's Office.
"Goncalves was in the midst of breaking up with the man she described to friends as her husband, Brendan Trivisonno, Meinikoff (her friend) said. Goncalves had just discovered that he was already married to a woman in Lyndhurst and has a daughter."
The "husband" told NJ Advance Media that he doesn't know where she is and he is cooperating with the police. He says that when PD arrived at the apartment for the wellness check, he gave them the keys to the apartment. He submitted a DNA sample and his truck and phone were impounded. He refused to answer questions because he didn't have an attorney present. At the time the article was published, he said he would be talking to the PD the following Monday with an attorney present.
Friends said Janaina works as an exotic dancer and is quite successful.
Janaina has a 27-year-old son who usually talks to her every day. His last contact was March 10.
"Trivisonno said he had a “crazy argument” with Goncalves around Thanksgiving when she found out he was married. He moved out to spend more time with his wife and daughter in Lyndhurst, Trivisonno said."
