Maybe she's been hanging with person/people her parents would rather she not hang with....

So she decided to leave with that person?

But that wouldn't explain the tweeting of "someones in the house... dial 911"...(my own words).

UPDATE 12:50 a.m.: Someone tweeted a photo showing a new post on Kara's Twitter feed saying: "Why is everyone saying I'm missing? I was jkin haha."
The new post has since been deleted.

I saw that too (a screen shot of it) but the person who tweeted the photo of what is supposedly the tweet on Kara's twitter is a parody account basically making fun of the entire situation and many on twitter are alledging the "I'm fine" tweet was photoshopped into the screen shot.

If this was my daughter and the Police Chief made the dangerous assumption that there was no foul play simply because there appeared to be nothing disturbed in the home, I would be livid!

I realize that police have used this type of reasoning for many years but morally and ethically it is the wrong way to go. As it is, police choose to err on the side of their own convenience and bet the odds. The problem with that is for the ones who truly need immediate and effective action, traditional police procedure greatly reduces the likelihood of the victim being found in time to save their life or even found at all.

For those who are kidnapped, traditional police procedure is an epic fail.

questions I want LE to answer.

was the house locked or not?
was kara's phone found in the home or not?

Just because nothing was disturbed doesn't mean she wasn't taken by force...

If there is a gun being held to her head.. i doubt she's gonna be kicking and screaming and knocking things over :(

True! Tara Grinstead's house didn't have a lot of clues either and she's been gone for almost 7 years. :(

Maggie Schneider @MaggieCNN Tweets:

Clark NJ Police Chief Alan Scherb says @KaraAlongi is 16yrs old and her parents came home a few hours after her 6p tweet.

Canine unit did pick up @KaraAlongi's scent but only went for 2-3 houses down the block. #KaraAlongi #CNN

No foul play involved and nothing missing from @KaraAlongi's house, says Clark, NJ PD. No forced entry, but back door was open, per usual

Because you said: "If she had time to "tweet", I hope she had time to get out okay."

Your post seems to be saying that she tweeted when someone entered her house, but maybe she got okay, but I don't see how it's possible she got out of her house without being kidnapped...if LE hasn't found her.

Please don't misrepresent my post! I did not say she tweeted when someone entered her house. I just said that since she was able to "tweet", I hope she got out okay.

Maybe she was tweeting as she ran out the back door, or climbing out a window, who knows. My comment is the same as before - I hope she got out okay.

Do they think it's a set up of some kind? Then why the Amber Alert? And this is posted on RadioReference.com:

"Incident Description

09/30/12 22:41 (CLARK - ) POLICE DEPARTMENT SEARCHING FOR 1 WJF. LAST SEEN EARLIER TODAY. NO DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. CANINE UNIT ASSISTING. [NJY089]"

UPDATE: 12:30 a.m.: Family and friends have moved inside as police are through with photographing and investigating inside the home.
http://clark.patch.com/articles/breaking-clark-pd-searching-for-missing-girl-who-tweeted-call-911

What a horrible feeling this must be for her family. They, like most parents who don't spend their free time following missing persons cases, probably expected that police would know just what to do to help find their daughter. no one anticipates having to wait four + hours to begin to wonder if maybe this girl really needs help.

Please, if any friends or family are reading here, let Kara's parents know that there is so much they need to do to make sure that no stone is left unturned and no evidence is overlooked, underestimated or destroyed. They can come here for support and advice from others who have been in their shoes. Now is the time to act, not tomorrow.

Cooperate with police, answer all questions fully and honestly no matter how many times they ask. Tell friends and extended family to cooperate. Everyone close to Kara has to be cleared, it's not personal, and there is no time to waste being offended.

Don't let police drag their feet, it is your job to speak up when Kara can't. Be polite, be reasonable, but be vigilant and outspoken. You can do this because Kara needs you now!

God bless Kara's family!

People need to take it seriously until we get word from law enforcement that we shouldn't. Precious time could be wasted otherwise.

I don't believe there's an amber alert. They have no vehicle description or anything, but there is a missing person alert. Or there was, now the police are saying she is not in physical danger, I don't get it. Unless they think she ran away or something. Also Clark is a sleepy town....not a lot happens there. I don't know if they know what they're doing.(LE, that is.)

Okay gotcha. I didn't see an Amber Alert myself. I do hope it was just a teenager joking around and she's fine, that's for sure!

I think this will all boil down to being a joke that went too far. But it's great that LE is taking it seriously rather than just writing it off as a hoax.

Good question, I've wondered the same thing. Maybe tweeting is second nature to her?

Here's another question. Kara's tweet was at 6:12 p.m.. Why would an intruder break into her house while it was still daylight? How did the intruder know the entire family wouldn't be home? This seems a little high risk to me. JMO
