A search is underway in Salem, New Jersey, after 21-year-old Kevin Collins walked away from Inspira Medical Center on State Highway 45 on February 27.

Collins is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a hospital gown, which was later found near the hospital.

Police say surveillance footage captured Kevin walking unclothed in a wooded area near Griscom Drive

Collins was taken to the hospital by ambulance after calling police for assistance as he drove his car in nearby Alloway Township on Thursday, February 27, his mother said.

The Bridgeton man apparently pulled over while experiencing a mental health crisis and called for help, Hall said.

Collins was evaluated at the scene and taken to the hospital, officials told her.

He left via a back exit from the facility, Hall was told, leaving behind his phone, keys and shoes.

He was wearing a hospital gown, which was later found discarded near the hospital.

Poor guy, this is very scary. It looks like there could be a walking path between the medical center and Griscom Dr where he was seen on surveillance footage. It's a small residential street, but the corn field makes me nervous...

I wondered that at first, until I re-read a couple of the news articles. He wasn't seen by a person walking naked, but was reported by police as having been seen on a surveillance camera footage, likely reviewed after he'd been reported missing.

Yes I understand that but I'm saying if he wandered out into public space someone would have noticed a naked person

This is sad. I wonder if they used any kind of heat sensor. I would also check on abandoned homes etc. Praying they find him safe.

Cops continue search for man who fled N.J. hospital as mom is ‘preparing my heart for the worst’

Kevin Collins Jr., 21, of Bridgeton, has been missing for two weeks after running from a hospital during a mental health emergency, his family said.

“I’m hoping for the best, but I’m preparing my heart for the worst,” Hall said.

Volunteers led a search of the area Sunday and police conducted another search using K-9s on Wednesday, she said. But there has been no sign of Collins.

Police have surveillance video showing Collins running from the facility, she said.

Police were quickly contacted after Collins fled the hospital and a K-9 was requested to assist in the search, Hall said she was told. Searchers had drones in the sky within two hours.

The last known image of Collins was picked up on a hunter’s trail camera in a wooded area near Griscom Drive an hour after he left the hospital, police said. The area is adjacent to the hospital.

Collins wasn’t wearing any clothes in the image, according to police. His hospital gown was found near railroad tracks behind the Mannington Mills flooring plant, located a short distance from the hospital, Hall was told by police.

If he was in an active mental health crisis, perhaps he has ended up in another facility and is unable or unwilling to give them his name/identity. Philly is super close by, there are so many different hospitals and medical centers.

Really hoping he’s found soon.

Sadly I'm not sure he's still alive. Nights have been pretty cold here lately, and if he was naked he wouldn't be able to stay safe. And we had a really bad storm a few nights ago, felled trees and bad rain.
