New Jersey Bagged Body Parts Identified

The Union County Prosecutor's office has identified the man and woman whose dismembered bodies were found stuffed into a total of six bags on a Linden, N.J., street Monday morning.

They were identified as 49-year-old Lazaro Calero and 48-year-old Maria Torres, both of Union City in Hudson County.

The Union City man who four years ago murdered a man and a woman in Union City, dismembered their corpses and left the body parts in garbage bags on a Linden street will likely die in prison after he was sentenced to 60 years in prison without parole yesterday.

Ruben Acosta, 40, of 22nd Street, pleaded guilty on March 17 to strangling Maria “Angel” Torres, 48, and Lazaro Calero, 49, who were killed “on or about” April 1, 2010 in their Fourth Street home in Union City.

Authorities never identified a motive for the killings.
