Perhaps the person who called 911 was an employee who spotted the child in the car and due to records knew how long the car had been there.

"I think that these people who do it who you see on TV, I'm like, 'God, how stupid are they to leave their kids in the car?' And then it happened," Holly says.

The woman calling 911 knew Millani by name though.

My sister's car has a rear seat sensor alert to remind you to check the back seat before you get out of the car. Idk the specifics but the first time I drove her car I had no idea what the alert was and had a mini freak out that I did something to her car lol (I don't have kids, can ya tell?) Crazy that we need to be reminded not to forget our kids in the backseat, but I think it's a great feature if you have kids.

Man charged with leaving toddler in car told police he has memory loss from work injury

"The man charged in connection with the Aug. 16 death of a toddler told police he forgot her in his hot car and that he has had memory problems since suffering a work injury.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday charged Shelton Shambry, 60, of Lindenwold, with abuse and neglect of a child. The fourth-degree charge comes a month after the death of the 22-month-old girl who was discovered in the van parked at the Lindenwold PATCO station....

The probable cause statement filed in Superior Court in Camden reveal that Shambry forgot Robertson-Lawrence was in the car for about nine hours after a change of plans altered his usual driving route. It wasn’t until family members went to collect the girl at daycare that they realized she had never been dropped off there as usual, police wrote in the statement....

The probable cause statement did not give any details about Shambry’s reported memory issues or the work injury that precipitated them.

He was charged on a summons and released pending his first court date Sept. 26, according to the prosecutor’s office."

Geez - I really hate these EU rules on my searching for recent articles. I'm just coming up with 2019 ones.
He is in the court site, but nothing has happened on that since 9/16/19....

I can not find the court site - it is Lindenwold Municipal Court case #S2019-500 for Shelton Shambry

Just found my notes on this - the last notes I have.

9/16/19 Update: He was charged with a summons & released until his court date on Sept. 26. Case disposed 7/14/21. No info on sentencing.

The offender is not currently an inmate in any New Jersey state prison. Either the sentence was so low, he served it in a county jail or was just fined, paroled? I think someone with a memory problem from a known accident should refrain from taking care of a toddler.
