Twenty two year old Morty Wortman, a Rutgers University senior from Jackson Township, New Jersey, has been missing since November 21. Morty was last seen around 10:30 p.m. near a wooded area along High Bridge Road while visiting his mother’s home.

His car was found abandoned in the parking lot of the Regional Day School, only a short distance from where he was staying. Since then, law enforcement agencies have been searching the surrounding area with drones and canine units, and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office is now leading the investigation.

Friends and classmates at Rutgers are extremely worried. Several of them have been posting flyers and joining his relatives in searching the Pine Barrens area where Morty was last seen. Those close to him say this is completely out of character and they fear he may have been harmed.

Morty is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 200 pounds. He has a nose piercing and multiple earrings. He was last known to be wearing a black T shirt, a burgundy hoodie, and blue jeans.

The area he vanished from is remote and heavily wooded. His loved ones are asking everyone in and around Jackson Township to check any cameras, properties, outbuildings, and trail areas.

The Jackson Police Department is asking for the public’s help to find a 22-year-old Rutgers University student. Mortimer Wortman was last seen on November 21, 2025, around 10:30 p.m. near a wooded area off High Bridge Road in Jackson, NJ. His car was found in the parking lot of the Regional Day School, just a short distance from his mother’s house, where he had been visiting. His friends worry he may have been harmed. He has a nose piercing and multiple earrings in both ears, and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, a burgundy hoodie, and blue jeans.

One of his close friends at Rutgers is Abigail Bischoff, who has been posting fliers with Wortman’s photo on them around campus.... "It's scary out there…it's in the middle of the Pine Barrens. There’s not a whole lot of people around,” said Bischoff.

Another fellow senior and close friend, Dylan Eskow, said he’s concerned someone might have harmed Wortman. "Totally, all of us are worried about it. He wouldn't just run away," he says. Eskow said he considers Wortman to be "a super nice kid. He always puts others above him, no matter what. Whether it’s family, friends or strangers in general.”

He may be Morimer Wortman the IV. There is a Mortimer III in the New Jersey public records system with a birthdate of 1974. Perhaps his father. It's not a name commonly given to children born in the last 30 years.

This article contains good information for us and is from MSM. The info about the suspect was released by family, not LE. LE had released the information that Morty was last seen around that wooded area and his car was found at the Day School parking lot.
What LE did not say was that there was cctv footage from the parking lot. This was likely intentional. They know who the suspect is and that person had previously assaulted Morty with a knife. There is a pending court case. LE did not want to spook the suspect causing him to panic and run/do further harm to Monty. They are actively looking for this guy.
This is why LE sometimes withholds information from family members. They do not want to jeopardize their investigation. Now this guy knows he was seen and the stakes just went up.

"The family claimed that the same man was the one who reported Wortman missing on Nov. 22 and are pushing for police to re-interview him."

The guy who had harassed Mortimer and was facing charges for it, also reported him missing after he was in this guy's car?? Have I understood correctly??
If so, it has to be the stupidest thing a person can do; if there was a ranking of the best ways to become a suspect, this would be number one.

This case has bothered me from day 1. And is still bothering me today. One, Jackson is not close to Rutgers, but NJ standards. Two, Jackson is NOT a walkable town. So without his car, there's not many places he can go. Three, there are way too many places to hide a body. Jackson is connected to the south by the Pine Barrons. There are trails everywhere, and its easy to get lost. There's a reason the mob loved the Pine Barrons. And four, people I know who live in that town say the rumor is he's not alive, and that drugs were involved.
