The small plane -- which had approximately 15 people on board -- crashed near the Cross Keys Airport on Tuckahoe Road early Wednesday evening, according to Gloucester County Emergency Management.

Officials said multiple people were hurt and the pilot of the plane is currently being extricated. Officials have not yet revealed the victims' conditions.

The Caravan has a turbine engine (the basics of a jet engine but with a propeller,, is probably the easiest way I could describe it). VERY reliable, but they still can have mechanical issues. The pilot, apparently, reported an engine problem after takeoff. He then likely wouldn't have been able to climb to an altitude that the jumpers could egress so he tried to make a landing, but it didn't work out. Still, he or she did their best, it's NOT an easy situation to handle, and something you can't train with a full load. Glad there were no fatalities.
