“All her belongings including money, her purse and cell phone were located at her home but no Norma,” says the page, which helped to organize a candlelight vigil on the first anniversary of her disappearance.

“We need new leads and areas to search to help find and bring Norma home whatever the case may be,” it adds, describing the impact on the family as “devastating.”

This exchange sounds to me like she was disoriented, charging her phone elsewhere and telling cops she was thirsty. Nothing "wrong" with either of those things, but seems off, like her thinking is fuzzy. Maybe she tried to go home, but with muddled thinking, she couldn't find her way ? idk

jmo
Dehydration signs she was exhibiting, which can cause disorientation; hence July when this happened. It was reaching around that weekend 100 degrees in the NY/NJ area.

There’s numerous media reports that all mention she was last spotted by a construction crew at her home.
This stands out. That many people, no signs of anything on the surveillance video, her pocketbook and cell phone were found in her home. Feels rather suspicious.

This smells like either someone doesn't want her to be found on purpose, or she died in the woods near a body of water and is most likely there still. It's too cold to find her in January, but by March/April, they could easily find her body once the weather thaws up.

I looked into this further given the time that's gone by. Norma A. Yates born in 1960, right height and weight, has a bench warrant out on narcotics charges (issued Oct., 2023). New Jersey Case # 21007047 obtaining controlled substance by fruid, deceipt, forgery (oxycodone). An earlier case in 2017 (Case No. 17007238) involved a false report to LE. That one is closed.

I've attached some screen shots from the public court records (it takes a little practice to find in this database, once you've located the case by name you have to individually open up subrecords for charges, bail, etc. and each one takes a few months to think and upload, then you have to use the back arrow to go back to the selection page and select the next subfolder - NOT the most user friendly of the state court record systems out there but it's free.)

My thinking is she may have had an addiction issue post surgery or other health ailment, was not being treated for it, and got dehydrated and disoriented, possibly under the influence. I get it - when I blew my knee out (walking the dog, don't ask) I declined all opoids despite the pain as addiction runs in my bio family.

Great research! Thanks! And sorry about your knee and having to get through it without pain meds. Dogs can be so dangerous! HaHa (in a way) - I have 2 dogs & 3 cats. I broke my back walking the dog (slipped on a wet boardwalk) and also split my head open when he went after a rabbit and I got slammed into the side of my house trying to stop him.
