Oh, well, that answers one of my questions.
New Jersey has one of the largest Sikh communities in the United States, nearly 100,000.

I know my client speaks Punjabi and her parents a lot of other family members travel to India at least yearly and still have property there.Simran is a name usually associated with the Sikh religion and people who speak Punjabi.
Are there are big communities of Sikhs in New Jersey? It's possible she has gone to stay with someone she knows online, or a friend of a friend.....

Reading between the lines. It sounds like the groom (family) is very upset that Simran disappeared - thinks he was duped and used for a free plane ticket.
But maybe do a psychological analysis of the video where she was last shown.
It's what I do in cases and it works
She has the same dress of the second available photo as can be seen here:Looks like the Atlantic City Convention Center facing the boardwalk.

You can see the scallop-shaped indentations on the facade look to be the same in both photos.

So who took this picture?
Edit - After thinking about it, the article doesn't say that this is Simran's first time in the U.S. It's possible she was here before to visit the groom's family and determine if there should be a match made. Perhaps these photos are what the family had from a prior visit.
There's just the 'small' matter of her now being illegally in the US, since she entered on a fiance rather than tourist visa.I'm going to speculate it isn't rare for someone in an arranged marriage to "nope" out of the whole thing, and I think that's what happened.
And I do not blame her. Women aren't property.
Her family being difficult for LE to reach -- makes me wonder if they also had 2nd thoughts about it, or they are panicked and purposely not responding? If they were worried about her well-being, you would think they'd be working with. U.S. LE, though.
Can you explain more? What works, in what way?
Maybe she failed to pay the fee they charged. There's just the 'small' matter of her now being illegally in the US, since she entered on a fiance rather than tourist visa.
There are plenty of operators who provide things like fake fiance's etc, in exchange for a large payment, that enable people to.get into the US - but then they normally don't draw attention to it by declaring the person missing.
But with so much turmoil in deportations, crackdowns on visas, Homeland Security arriving on your doorstep, etc, IMO this could be a strategy to get her into the country to join her family.
Why? Do you prefer a world where women are victimized, than a world where women - and maybe their families - scam others to get what they want?I'm kind of hoping she escaped from something nefarious.
I prefer a world where women save themselves. Thanks for asking. Why? Do you prefer a world where women are victimized, than a world where women - and maybe their families - scam others to get what they want?
Pretty sure there's both.

Do we know that she came on a fiancée visa? We don't seem to know much. The visa is this most perplexing part to me. It would not be easy for an Indian national to get a non-career-related visa to the US and would have taken significant time and effort. There's just the 'small' matter of her now being illegally in the US, since she entered on a fiance rather than tourist visa.

I believe this, or she was talking to someone else on the side and she went with them instead of the intended groom/his family. I hope if this is the case, the person she met up with does not have nefarious intentions.I have hope that she is physically ok and will be found. MOO: in the philosophy of the simplest answer being the right one, I believe she called someone she knew and rolled off to figure out how she’d like her life to go.
A lot of things to be honest.Things don't add up here for me. 24 is pretty old for an Indian bride, unless she was a well-educated/professional woman who had completed university before looking to marry. But then, I would very much expect her to speak fluent English and for her to be looking for a similarly educated and professional groom. The fact that she does not speak English at all suggests that she is not educated to any significant degree. How easy would it be for such a woman to obtain a fiance/marriage visa for the US?
And yes - genuine arranged marriages involve the parents and aunties of the woman matchmaking via their networks and, if necessary, making enquiries outside of those networks for a "suitable boy". If that doesn't produce a result, then they may resort to advertising in one or more regional newspapers in India, but in that case the parents and aunties would very much be gatekeeping and reviewing the responses.
