HORRY COUNTY

Child's DNA not a match for lost Conway girl

A DNA profile from a missing Conway girl did not match that of a child's remains found last year in New Jersey, according to Catina Hipp, spokesperson for Conway Police.

The unknown child's DNA did not match that of Kynande Bennett or her biological parents, Vartasha McCollough-White of Conway and Eddie Kevin Bennett, Hipp said.

McCollough-White was convicted of homicide by child abuse in 2006 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for her child's death, but Kynande's body never was found.

McCollough-White has told police her then 4-year-old daughter disappeared in 2002 from a Kmart in Whiteville, N.C.

Conway police said authorities had evidence that the child was killed in Conway.

Thank you for posting that article in regards to Kynande, Soulmagent.

Do you think that Rilya Wilson is a consideration for this UID?

I believe I may have a possible:
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/c/creighton_ashani.html

The girl's height and weight are within the range, and give or take, so is the estimated time of death and time of going missing is cloudy at best. This is an abduction by grandparents who apparently have some ties to New Jersey and Brooklyn, New York, and have been charged with child abuse on one of their sons.

I couldn't get too many of the links to work, but if any of you could do some kind of a court records check, etc., I believe it would be VERY helpful.

Do any of you think Ashani Creighton has any merit as our UID?

A lot of factors would have to fall into place to make Ashani Creighton fit.She would of had to be somewhere until 2001 at least. I dont know when she was REPORTED missing And havent read anything other then the link you posted concerning her.

She was born in 1992 , in 2001 she would of been 9. Her family had ties to Newyork . I think that merits her being compared if she hasnt already.

Does anyone think that piece of loony toon cloth could be from a pair of converse shoes? They found One airforce 1 shoe ,Anyway I thought it looked like the same fabric they use for converse and went searching for a pair of loony toon converse and found they made them but I have not found pictures of anyting that match. I was wondering if it she was wearing two different shoes. Here is a search result so you can see what I mean.http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=converse+cartoon&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=2331399511&ref=pd_sl_63f5ovepy4_b

I think it's possible, but improbable. To me they just don't look the same. but that's only my opinion, others may disagree.

How could a 9 yo wear a size 8 1/2 shoe? In a child size that is tiny for a 5 yo and in an adult size that is huge for a 9 yo.

That has me baffled as well ,an 8 1/2 is an still an infants shoe size I had thought. My son is 3 and he is small for his age is wearing a 7. My 10 year old is in a womens 6 and she is in the normal when compared to most kids in her class. Thats is another reason I was wondering ,a few post back as to who looked at her bones. Anthropologist verses a forensic pathologist .
After reading Amanda Browns post on this thread about the ''most likely a black female'' I am even questioning the gender of this child.

I have a couple of friends with little girls who did wear smaller shoe sizes than my boys did at the same age. One of my friends was worried because when her little girl entered kindergarten she only wore a size 10 shoe. If you saw her feet, you would wonder how they held her up as they looked tiny compared to her body. I wonder if the remains are that of a little girl who is younger than estimated- like a 3 to 4 year old? The UID page doesn't mention dentals or how they arrived at the age of the child's remains. Anyone know? Also the estimated hieght that's estimated at 3' to 3'6" seems more like a 3-4 year olds height vs a 5-9 year olds height. Also, the portion of unidentified cloth looks like it could be a little purse of sorts or small backpack. It looks like it has a plastic "window" towards the top like where you would slip a little paper with a name on it- ie: property of ________. Just some thoughts- hoping for an id for the little one.

The gender question crossed my mind too, but I believe barrettes were found with the body and boys would not have had them.

Looney Tunes were heavily marketed on clothing and accessories even in the early 1990s. When I was in high school then, everybody had the "thugs" shirt with the trio of LT characters wearing hip-hop clothing.

I recognize three characters on that piece of canvas: Sylvester's face (inside a square) is in the middle, Taz's face (inside a circle) is just to his right and Tweety is at the top, closest to the tech's thumb. Each character in the collage is depicted inside a square or circle or some other shape, and Tweety's entire face isn't shown but those are definitely his eyes and lashes.

I agree, that's likely a small change purse because you can see the tab thing you pull when you're closing the zipper and the double line of stitching and black material at the base of the canvas scrap was probably the bottom of the purse.

Im wondering if she could be mixed. The Doe network says that dna tests say she is LIKELY a black female, so that leaves a small chance that she is mixed race. I will check some out if you guys havent already. Also another important fact that if she was mixed with black and white she could have appeared white, I knew a girl who had a mixed child that you could not tell was black, so if people see that the doe is black they may not put it together if she didnt look black. Just throwing up some suggestions.

this brings up an interesting issue - if the child was African-Cuban or African-Dominican, say, or from one of the islands, would they list her as black or as Hispanic?

Idaho4Groenes, since you started this thread about the UID, would you like to contact the authorities if you think it's a possible match? I have contacted Rocky Wells from the Doe Network in the past, and he's always been pretty good about getting back to me. I just never contacted anyone other than him and wouldnt know where to start with the authorities.

Brittany is said to have a tube inserted in her chest- if anyone has experience with this type of medical situation maybe they can answer my question? Since the tube would be inserted via a medical procedure, would it be visible upon discovery of the remains?

You found this possible match, so feel free to contact them about it. :) I actually wouldn't know where to start with contacts either. If you don't feel comfortable with it, maybe someone else here with more experience in making these kinds of calls/contacts would be willing to???

Also, Boyz_Mum, I was curious about that too. The remains that were found were skeletal, though, so there wouldn't be any tissue to determine where the tube would have been. I'm not sure what type of tube or procedure it was, though, so they may be able to tell. Just my thoughts. I'm no expert by any means.

Boys_Mum. I was actually thinking the same thing, I would think that the tube would be somewhere with the remains...... I might go ahead and turn it into Rocky at the Doe Network and see what he says.
