A defense attorney is questioning accusations that a man arrested at a ramshackle New Mexico compound was training children to commit school shootings.

Aleks Kostich of the Taos County Public Defender's Office said Wednesday the allegations by prosecutors against Siraj Ibn Wahhaj (see-DAHJ' IBN wah-HAJ') lacked additional explanation, except to say the information came from the foster parent of a child removed from the compound last week.

I would question that too. When were these kids let out of that closed environment to be set loose on schools? I hope that those kids are not going to be further damaged by foster parents with their own agenda.

I wonder who has more of an agenda? An extremist who moves a large group of kids to a remote desert compound, with weapons, and no food or resources---or the foster mother who repeated what one of the children in the compound told her?

They hid the body of a 3 yr old in the bathroom area, and all of the children shared a living space with their dead friend.

I have no doubts that the leader of this group was 'training' the 15 yr old at least, to use weapons in the future, in line with the extremists visions.

If I have to decide which person seems more credible---the foster mother, or Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, I am going with the foster mother.

One person. Have the other foster parents reported any of this?

It's too early to know. I am assuming she may have been the foster mother of the 15 yr old or one of the eldest.

I don't see any reason for her to lie. All they have to do is ask the child for corroboration.

But it seems pretty logical that the men would be training the kids as militia. Why else go to a remote desert compound with weapons and no resources?

It’s obvious that the 5 adults did not have a good “agenda” living in the middle of no where with 11 live children and one dead and buried.

What would a foster parents agenda be?

In January, a Facebook account of Naeemah Rashid, who said she is the imam’s daughter-in-law, posted a picture of other children around the missing poster for Abdul-Ghani.

“I wanted to take the time now to make sure we also focus on praying for the other children as well, because of their parents making these choices it’s going to affect these children as well,” she wrote. “AND AGAIN THE FATHER (SIRAJ IBN) AND SON (ABDUL GHANI) WAS THE ONLY ONES REPORTED AS MISSING TO THE POLICE, BUT THEY ARE LIKELY TO BE TRAVELING TOGETHER WITH ALL IN THE PICTURE BELOW.”

According to court documents, one of the eleven children told their foster parent they'd been trained, "…in the use of an assault rifle in preparation for a future school shooting, to kill as many people as possible."

The documents also state the children were transported across state lines for the purpose of "receiving advanced weapons training to commit future acts of violence."

Jacobson addressed whether parents should be concerned about the children possibly attending public school, now that they're in foster care.

I know they are only kids, but it's very worrying. I hope they feel grateful that they have been rescued and given better opportunities rather than feel angry that they have been taken away from their parents. Anger like that could leave them feeling very bitter towards the country.

That's where the trooper finds Wahhaj, Lucas Morten and seven children in the car. Wahhaj tells the trooper they are going on a camping trip to New Mexico. The trooper finds ammunition, and guns, but no camping gear.

At the time, there was no Amber Alert issued for Abdul, because his mother and father are still married and share joint custody. Instead, a pick-up order was issued, which is only made available to local law enforcement.

So, the trooper let them go. This was the first missed opportunity.

Finally, on Aug. 2, police received images of texts sent from one of the women on the compound, stating they were starving and in need of food and water.

I'm having trouble with the family tree. Were any of the women who were arrested actual siblings to SIW? I'm seeing supporters of the group on FB calling the women sisters, but I can't figure out if that's a real thing or a Muslim thing.
